John Cena and Idris Elba team up as world leaders on the run in Heads of State.

On Wednesday, April 23, Prime Video debuted the first trailer for the film, which imagines Cena, 48, as U.S. President Will Derringer and Elba, 54, as U.K. Prime Minister Sam Clarke.

The two “have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries’ ‘special relationship,’ ” as a synopsis reads.

“But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary — who proves more than a match for the two leaders’ security forces — they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other.”

In the trailer, Sam and Will’s distrust for each other appears born in Sam’s background as a former action-movie star.

Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon), Stephen Root (Barry), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso) and Carla Gugino also star in the movie.

Cena and Elba, who worked together in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, also serve as producers of Heads of State. The movie is directed by Nobody‘s Ilya Naishuller and written by Harrison Query, Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec.
