Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s foundation back in business after Archewell declared ‘delinquent’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation is back in business after being declared “delinquent.”

“We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing,” a spokesperson told Page Six in a statement Tuesday.

“Due payments were made promptly and in accordance with the IRS’s processes and procedures. Furthermore, all necessary paperwork had been filed by the Foundation without error or wrongdoing.”

We’re told Harry, Markle and the other Archewell heads were taken by surprise by the news, and even though they acted quickly to rectify the situation, they were delayed in resolving the matter due to the Sussexes’ Nigeria trip.

We’re told the amount owed was to the tune of $200, not including any late fees.

Page Six revealed Monday that Harry and Markle’s foundation had been declared “delinquent” by California’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, which ordered them to stop raising and spending money.

According to an official letter from the state’s attorney general, Rob Bonta, the couple and their team “fail[ed] to submit annual required report(s) and/or renewal fees” for Archewell.

“An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds,” the memo read.

“The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”

Initially, we were told that the pair had filed for an extension. We were later told that the initial check sent to the attorney general’s office had not been received, so a new one was issued.

Harry and Markle — who have been living in Montecito since 2020 — set up their foundation after stepping down from their royal duties and moving across the pond.

The Archewell group includes the duo’s nonprofit charitable foundation as well as the for-profit business divisions focusing on media production, Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
