Prince Harry nearly kisses Stephen Colbert in ‘Late Show’ skit
You have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince.
Prince Harry nearly planted a smooch on Stephen Colbert during the former’s surprise appearance on the “Late Show” Wednesday night.
Colbert kicked off his talk show with a skit about the extensive number of TV Christmas movies that involve an American falling in love with a princess or a prince.
“As much as I love these holiday movies, and I do, I think they’re a little problematic because they give people the unrealistic expectation that during the holiday season, they’re just going to bump into some prince at their job or walking down the street,” the comedian, 61, said.
As Colbert finished his statement, Harry, 41, came onto the stage, saying that he thought he was walking into an audition for “The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska.”
The Invictus Games founder then asked Colbert what a real prince had to do to “get into a Hallmark movie.”
The TV host asked Harry if he had “any connections to any famous TV actresses?”
“I might know one,” Harry said, referring to his wife, former “Suits” actress Meghan Markle.
“But I’ll do anything. I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition. I’ll settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House … all the things you people in TV do!” the duke jokingly said.
When Colbert joked that he “didn’t do any of those things,” Harry hit back, “Maybe that’s why you’re canceled.”
Towards the end of the skit, the set began to turn into a TV Christmas movie, complete with evergreen trees and fake snow falling to the ground.
The “Spare” author and Colbert jokingly grabbed each other’s faces and came close, as if they were going to kiss like two people who fall in love during a TV Christmas movie.
Colbert then told Harry he “got the role” of “official ‘Late Show’ prince of Christmas.”
Elsewhere during the skit, Harry incited boos from the audience when he slammed President Donald Trump, joking that Americans “elected a king.”
