Prince Harry roasts Meghan Markle’s cooking with playful dig in ‘With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration’
Prince Harry roasted Meghan Markle’s cooking during the Netflix special “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration.”
In the episode, which premiered on Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex cooked up a Christmas feast with celebrity chef Tom Colicchio, making sure to feature one of her family’s favorites: gumbo.
“Hi, guys, I smelled gumbo,” the Duke of Duchess said as he shyly walked in, hands in his pockets, and kissed his wife on the lips.
“Gumbo, for me, is one of my favorites. Especially her mom’s, but before the fish goes in,” Harry, 41, told Colicchio.
Markle, 44, went on to note that her mom Doria Ragland– who makes gumbo as their Christmas Eve meal — “saves a portion on the side” for Harry because of his food preferences.
“My mom does the turkey sausage for you, so this one has more kick to it,” she warned of the andouille sausage she had added to the dish.
“I’ll give you a little towel,” she told her husband before announcing that the heat would make him “sweat.”
“Wonderful,” Harry simply responded.
After taking a bite, Harry cleared his throat and sniffled, saying, “I can feel it puncturing through the top of my head right now.
“It is delicious. I’m not so sure it’s as good as your mom’s but it’s certainly close,” he said with a cheeky expression.
Markle stared at him with her mouth wide open in shock before noting, “What?! Oh my God!
“My mom will love you for that. What a good thing to say for your mother-in-law.”
She then closed the segment by thanking the chef for joining her in the kitchen before turning to kiss Harry.
Markle also paid tribute to her husband’s Christmas traditions during the show when she and restaurateur Will Guidara made Christmas crackers — the toy, not the food — together.
“Living in the UK, it’s such a part of [the culture] for Christmas holidays, for sure,” she explained.
“Typically people cross arms and do it. So they sit around a table and they all pull at the same time.”
Markle added, “It actually does feel really connected and sweet.”
This is not the first time Harry has made a brief cameo in Markle’s Netflix show. He, as well as the former actress’s mom, was featured in the first season.
However, he took a step back during the second season.
The couple has been married since 2018 and shares two kids: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
All episodes of “With Love, Meghan” are available to stream on Netflix.
