Prince William makes rare comment about brother Prince Harry amid ongoing royal family feud
Prince William is showing a little brotherly love.
In a rare move amid William and Prince Harry’s years-long rift, William mentions his younger brother by name during an appearance on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series, “The Reluctant Traveler.”
William acknowledges he and Harry had a difficult upbringing as royals when asked about how he feels about his eldest son, 12-year-old Prince George, one day becoming king.
“Obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better,” he says. “That is caveated with, I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up with — and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”
William says that he definitely plans to “change” things for his children.
“Change for good,” William stresses. “And I embrace that and I enjoy that change — I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change.”
“Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen,” he continues.
Harry has been at odds with his family since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back as working members of the royal family in 2020 and moved to the United States.
Harry has since publicly aired his grievances against his family on multiple occasions, including in his and Markle’s bombshell 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, their 2022 Netflix docuseries and his 2023 memoir, “Spare.”
But Harry said he would “love reconciliation with [his] family” in an interview with the BBC in May.
Harry did have a 53-minute visit with his father, King Charles, during his four-day trip to the UK last month, but there was no meeting with William.
Kensington Palace announced that William was booked with royal engagements all throughout his brother’s visit, killing any hopes of reconciliation between the two.
William, 43, is reluctant to reconcile with Harry, 41, due to a “persistent lack of trust” when it comes to Markle, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital in August.
“Their concerns are well-founded,” she claimed. “Any private family discussions could become public or be used for commercial projects.”
