Prince William ‘will be watching’ estranged brother Harry ‘closely’ following UK return
Prince William will reportedly keep a close eye on his estranged brother, Prince Harry, after the latter unexpectedly moved back to the UK.
“William will be watching his brother very closely and trying to work out what his game plan is,” Grant Harrold, a former royal butler, told Us Weekly in an interview published Wednesday.
Harrold believes William is still upset over Harry’s bombshell allegations about their relationship exposed in the latter’s 2023 memoir, “Spare.” “I don’t believe he’s happy Harry is back in the UK at all.”
A source told the outlet that the brothers’ “relationship was already broken,” explaining, “The move doesn’t break it again [but] it does put the break in the same country.”
The insider shared that the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, returning to the UK is a “shock” to William and Princess Kate Middleton, both 44.
“They’re still processing it, but their initial surprise has evolved, and they’re taking a wait-and-see approach,” they said.
As for a potential reunion between William and Harry, the source isn’t betting on whether it will happen anytime soon.
“No one’s booking a table for two for William and Harry,” the insider claimed. “Everyone wants a reunion story, but it’s not something that’s in the cards.”
If a reunion occurs in the future, the insider believes it “will be a slow and private process,” and on the Prince of Wales’ terms.
A rep for Harry and William wasn’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Last month, Page Six confirmed that Harry, 41, and Markle, 45, along with their kids — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — were moving back to the UK for “an extended period.” The family wasted no time in packing their bags and landed in London one week later.
An insider told us the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to be closer to King Charles III as he continues to battle cancer.
However, the couple is in England as “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests” and not working royals, a palace office told the BBC Monday.
The “Suits” alum and Harry are living in a non-royal residence and are reportedly looking for a home in the Cotswolds. As for their kids, they enrolled in a prep school.
The duo notably quit their royal duties in 2020 and relocated from the UK to Montecito, California.
Since then, they’ve spoken out about the royal family in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and in Harry’s “Spare” memoir.
