Queen Camilla ‘on the mend’ after chest infection: I’m ‘getting much better’

Queen Camilla shared she’s “on the mend” as she returned to her royal duties after battling a chest infection last week.

“I’m obviously getting much better, bit of sort of coughing going on,” the 77-year-old royal said while attending a reception for The Booker Prize Foundation at Clarence House on Tuesday.

In a clip shared by a Daily Mail reporter, Camilla said she “really wanted to come” to the event despite being under the weather last week.

In another video, Camilla admitted her symptoms from the infection were still lingering.

“I’m on the mend, these things always take a bit of time to get rid of,” she told American author Percival Everett.

“You think you got rid of it, they just sort of hang on for a bit.”

Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III’s wife had to step back from her royal duties to recover from the chest infection.

“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” a palace spokesperson said in a statement to the BBC.

“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.”

Although Camilla did not attend this year’s Festival of Remembrance events, Kate Middleton and Prince William attended alongside Charles.

Camilla’s battle with the chest infection comes on the heels of William’s comments about the “hardest year in [his] life” following his wife and father’s respective cancer diagnoses.

“It’s been dreadful,” the Prince of Wales, 42, said last week in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Princess of Wales, 42, went public with her cancer diagnosis in March, while her 75-year-old father-in-law announced his diagnosis in February.

Charles’ cancer diagnosis was revealed after the British monarch underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate.

His treatments were paused last month due to his travel schedule. Meanwhile, Middleton has completed chemotherapy.
