Reese Witherspoon ‘is taking things slow’ with ‘friend’ Oliver Haarmann: report

Reese Witherspoon and financier Oliver Haarmann sparked romance rumors earlier this week after being spotted on an apparent date in New York City.

The pair reportedly flew into the city via helicopter over the weekend and were photographed dining at L’Artusi in the West Village Monday night.

However, a source told People Thursday that Witherspoon, 48, and the German private equity financier 56, are “friends.”

While the “Legally Blonde” star announced her split from husband Jim Toth in March 2023, Haarmann is also fresh off a divorce from Mala Gaonkar, with whom he shares two sons.

A second insider told People that Witherspoon “is taking things slow when it comes to dating.”

“She enjoys it but doesn’t want it to be a big focus. She’s busy with work and her son,” they explained “These are her biggest priorities.”

Although the rumored couple is taking things slow, they have reportedly been seen out on a string of dates in recent months, per the Daily Mail.

The duo seemed smitten as they were photographed on a sweet stroll before their dinner date at the Italian hot spot.

While Haarmann looked sharp in navy trousers and a white button-down, the “Morning Show” star opted for a flowy black dress and heels.

Witherspoon has not publicly dated anyone since her divorce from Toth was finalized in August 2023. Meanwhile, the former CAA agent was spotted with a mystery woman four months after their split.

An insider previously told Page Six there was “zero spark and zero romance left” by the end of their 12-year marriage.

“There’s no big scandal or drama, just two people who essentially became co-parents and don’t really have any romantic feelings for each other anymore,” the source shared.

Despite their split, multiple insiders insisted that the two are still on amicable terms and focused on co-parenting their 11-year-old son, Tennessee.

The actress is also mom to daughter Ava, 24, and son Deacon, 20, with ex Ryan Phillippe. The exes wed in 1999 but separated seven years later.

Their divorce was finalized in 2008.

Like Toth and Witherspoon, the “Cruel Intentions” co-stars seem to be on good terms and have reunited many times over the years for the sake of their kids.
