RHOA’s Kandi Burruss Explains Why She Paid Ex-Husband Todd Tucker Over $400K in Divorce Settlement

Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is explaining why she paid ex-husband Todd Tucker so much in their divorce settlement.

“We are joint. Everything is split evenly — even when it comes to the financial part of it,” Burruss, 49, told Loren LoRosa during an interview on Thursday, March 27. “We had properties together that we had to split equally. Basically it’s just so we just have to end up with equal equity.”

The reality star clarified the lump sum she had to give Tucker, 52, adding, “It is who got what properties and if I ended up with one more, I just had to pay the difference up. So we are still equal in what we got. Because I ended up with more on the property side, then I just paid the different stuff. So it’s not like I had to pay him.”

According to a settlement agreement obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, March 25, Burruss and Tucker will share joint legal and physical custody of their kids Ace, 10, and Blaze, 6.

Per the arrangement, Burruss will pay Tucker a lump sum of $426,000. Neither party will be paid child support or spousal support, and Burruss will keep the children’s passports. It was also noted that the former couple agreed to sell a food truck they own together.

Details about the real estate divided between them were redacted in the paperwork, but Tucker agreed to leave Burruss’ guest home within 15 days of the parenting deal being signed. Burruss will keep five of their cars, while Tucker got six.

“If you read the whole thing, we have to be equal in the equity that we have in the properties that we own together,” Burruss continued on Thursday. “What I’m saying is we have to be equal in what we both take out of the properties. So if we didn’t sell the properties and we just did based off of, ‘I’m going to take these two and you take whatever.’ But if my properties may be worth more, then I have to pay the difference so that we’re both still equal.”

Us Weekly confirmed in November 2025 that the pair had split after 11 years of marriage.

“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and coparenting with love and respect,” Burruss said in a statement to Us at the time. “I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”

Burruss later opened up about prioritizing their kids, saying on a January episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, “We have determined that no matter what, we’re always going to be great coparents for our kids. We’re still a family, even though he and I have decided to go our separate ways. We’re trying to make it as easy as possible for our children.”
