Rob Reiner’s Kids Jake and Romy Throw 1st Pitch at Los Angeles Dodgers Game in Rare Public Outing
Rob Reiner’s kids are making their father proud on the baseball field.
More than seven months after the Hollywood director and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were tragically killed, their kids Jake Reiner and Romy Reiner made a rare public appearance to throw out the first pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Boston Red Sox game on Sunday, August 2.
Both Jake, 35, and Romy, 28, had the opportunity to showcase their throwing arms before game time. As a bonus, the Dodgers put a throwback photo of Jake and Romy with their parents on the big screen as a tribute, according to an attendee.
In May, Jake shared a glimpse into how the L.A. baseball team made him feel closer to his late father.
“When it comes to the Dodgers, my first love, it’s something I’ve always connected with my dad first and foremost,” Jake said on the “The Incline: Dodgers” podcast. “It’s something I will continue to connect with him for the rest of my life.”
In an essay published in April, Jake further explained how he shared a love of baseball with his father.
“My connection with him was first built on baseball. It was my grandfather’s favorite sport, passed down to my dad and then to me,” he wrote. “We loved the Dodgers more than anything. We went to so many damn games.”
Jake continued, “I’ll never go to Dodger Stadium again without feeling my dad’s presence and hearing his voice tell me why Shohei Ohtani should never bat in the leadoff spot.”
Although the Dodgers lost to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, Jake and Romy appeared to share some happy memories on the field. The pair were photographed embracing for a hug before posing for photos with various players, including Alex Call and Miguel Rojas.
Jake and Romy’s lives changed forever when their parents were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home on December 14, 2025.
Jake and Romy’s brother, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged in connection with their deaths and remains behind bars at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Downtown Los Angeles.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and waived his right to a speedy preliminary hearing. (Nick, 32, has struggled with addiction and mental health issues over the years.)
“Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time,” Jake wrote in an April essay shared to his Substack. “It’s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it’s not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare.”
