NEED TO KNOW

- The actor joked that he had “nightmares” about the merkin that Lawrence wore while filming the thriller
- The duo also discussed Kim Kardashian’s new SKIMS merkins
Robert Pattinson found himself in a hairy situation with his costar Jennifer Lawrence.
The duo, who star together in the new thriller Die My Love, sat down for a lie detector test interview with Vanity Fair. In the video, released on Saturday, Nov. 8, Lawrence, 35, was in the hot seat when the topic of merkins — artificial hairpieces intended for the pubic area — came up.
When Pattinson, 39, asked the actress if she knew what a merkin was, she replied, “I do, I do. I’ve worn quite a few.”
“I’ve never seen you wear a merkin,” the Twilight actor replied.
“Yes, you have, Rob,” Lawrence corrected him, referring to filming nude scenes in their new movie.
Pattinson still seemed confused, prompting the Oscar winner to add, “Rob, that was not my real … did you not know that that was a merkin?”
“I’ve had nightmares about it ever since,” Pattinson joked. ” … I didn’t know what it was. I caught a glimpse of it, and I turned away and ran.”
The actor then asked Lawrence if she would buy one of Kim Kardashian’s new SKIMS merkins, to which the actress cheekily replied, “No, I’ll get it for free.”
On Oct. 14, Kardashian, 45, debuted the Faux Hair Micro String Thong, which features “a mix of curly and straight faux hair in twelve different shade variations,” per the SKIMS website.
The brand announced the drop on Instagram with a campaign video parodying 1970s game shows. “Just Dropped: The Ultimate Bush,” the caption reads. “With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be.”
SKIMS touts the product, which retails for $32, as its “most daring panty yet.” Fans had mixed reactions, with many expressing confusion. “Who asked for this???” one wrote. “Is everything ok?” asked another.
Kardashian addressed the reaction to the launch while speaking with E! News at the Thursday, Oct. 16 premiere of Hulu’s All’s Fair in Los Angeles.
“It was just a fun, silly idea,” Kardashian told the outlet during a red carpet interview. “But you know a lot of other people have done it, like [John] Galliano.”
During a 2024 Maison Margiela haute couture runway show, the 64-year-old British fashion designer styled his models with merkins.
“It was so funny,” Kardashian said.
“I’m shocked it got so much attention,” the businesswoman continued. “We’ve been laughing and talking about it all day long.”
