Ryan Reynolds goaded by Broadway crowd to drop $25K on Jonathan Groff’s hat

Ryan Reynolds was goaded by theatergoers into dropping $25,000 on a hat worn by Jonathan Groff in the Broadway show “Just in Time.”

During the “Glee” alum’s final Broadway performance as Bobby Darin on Sunday, audience members had the chance to bid on his signed hat, with proceeds benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Per a video shared on social media, the bidding started at $5,000 before quickly rising to $15,000.

The fast bidding left the “Deadpool” star in shock as he stared at the audience members betting against him.

“Wow,” he could be seen mouthing before bidding $20,000.

“We love you, Ryan,” a fan could be heard saying in response before the MC quickly told him, “You know I want more, 21?”

When the 49-year-old actor seemingly protested, she told him, “Well, we could just end it if you want to do a big number. It’s for charity, honey!”

Reynolds settled once and for all as he shouted, “25!”

After the bidding had ended, Groff, 41, thanked Reynolds by personally hand-delivering his hat.

The two actors embraced and chatted before Reynolds tried to place the hat on his daughter’s head, though she quickly swatted it away.

For the special Broadway night, the “Proposal” star was accompanied by his wife, Blake Lively, and their daughters James, 11, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6. Their 3-year-old son, Olin, was seemingly missing from the outing.

The “Gossip Girl” actress, 38, sat behind Reynolds while holding their youngest, Betty, close to her. Meanwhile, Reynolds sat between James and Inez.

This is not the first time an A-lister has donated to a good cause in Broadway.

In 2022, Nicole Kidman got her hands on Hugh Jackman’s “The Music Man” hat after donating $100,000 to Broadway Cares.
