Saturday Night Live’s Chloe Fineman Creates the MOTHER of Retro Collections: ‘Vintage With a Twist’ (Exclusive)
Chloe Fineman may be best known for her quick-change artistry on Saturday Night Live — where she’s morphed into everyone from Drew Barrymore to Jennifer Coolidge and Timothée Chalamet — but her latest role is a natural fit: clothing designer.
Now, the actress and comedian, 37, has debuted her first-ever fashion collaboration with cult label MOTHER. The Chloe Fineman x MOTHER capsule, created with her sister, London-based artist Emma Fineman, is a 15-piece ode to retro glamour, infused with Chloe’s signature wit.
And who better to help usher it into the cultural conversation than Us — a publication Chloe openly adores. “I stalk Us Weekly’s Instagram to be like, what’s happening and who’s everyone talking about? You guys are my guiding light,” she says.
Chloe Fineman Details How Her Collab Went From Sketch to Stage
The collaboration blossomed from Chloe’s obsession with denim and Emma’s painterly eye. Together, the sisters dreamed up jeans, skirts, jackets and accessories that channel ‘60s It Girls and ‘70s icons — Jane Birkin, and the rest of the jet set crowd Chloe jokes she’d happily time-travel to party with in Paris.
“She has more British style than I do,” Chloe says of Emma, whose closet she has often raided. “I’m a little bit more polished. [But] I don’t mind things being a little slutty!”
That sibling mischief spills into the collection itself, from playful names like The Wingman in Emotional Baggage to cheeky monograms stitched into linings. “Fashion and comedy are really confusing to people, like truly,” Chloe explains. “But I think that role play is always fun and funny, and so that’s where those names came from.”
How Chloe Fineman’s Collection Is Helping the Community
The collection doesn’t just celebrate sisterhood — it supports community — 10 percent of net sales benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, chosen to honor the Finemans’ cousin, a firefighter, and to support wildfire relief.
For MOTHER, the partnership was a no-brainer. “Chloe is witty, hilarious, wildly creative and effortlessly cool,” said Tim Kaeding, the brand’s cofounder in a press release. “She and Emma brought a clear vision: vintage with a twist, equal parts style and storytelling.”
Chloe Fineman’s New Release Already Has the Celebrity Stamp of Approval
Chloe’s already test-driven her jeans this summer (“I’m not supposed to say this, but as soon as I got a sample, I wore them”) and she plans to slip samples to her famous friends. “Dakota Johnson, Lindsay Lohan, my SNL girls, yeah, they’re all getting them. Hopefully we will see them at the show this year.”
When it comes to her own closet, Chloe doesn’t play favorites. “I own almost as many jeans as I own wigs,” she confesses. “In the hundreds, some in my apartment, some in storage. I think I have a pair of jeans in my oven [where she also stores her wigs!]”
So what’s the most Chloe piece in the collection? “Probably what I’m wearing [The Jet Set Emotional Baggage jacket and The Wingman Emotional Baggage skirt],” she says, grinning. “Playful, sexy, vintage.”

DO:
- Size up. “No one is the same size in a pair of jeans, and that is something I need tattooed on my back.”
- Tailor them. “It should be tailored and actually fit your body. I think the length is the No.1. If you’re wearing a boot, it should be long. If you’re wearing a loafer, it should be right around the ankle.”
- Break them in. “The best jeans look like they’ve lived a life.”
DON’T:
- Wear skinny jeans. “I can’t do a skinny jean. I’m violently allergic to them!”
- Skip the try-on. “Not trying them on [is a mistake]. Girl, don’t order online. Go to bed, get off your phone.”
- Over-distress. “No acid wash jeans. I have a really hard time with the ripped holes, the distress. Especially because in NYC, you don’t know what you sit on, and I don’t want my knees touching.”
Chloe Fineman x MOTHER ranges from $35 to $375 and is available exclusively at motherdenim.com.
