Savannah Guthrie reveals biggest ‘Today’ show regret involving Khloé Kardashian

Savannah Guthrie regretted asking Khloé Kardashian about the rumors that the late Robert Kardashian Sr. wasn’t her real dad.

During Monday’s episode of the “Today” show, the broadcast journalist was asked by an audience member if she had any major regrets in her career.

She immediately recalled the 2012 moment she got to interview Khloé, saying producers wanted her to ask the “dishy question” of whether OJ Simpson was the reality TV star’s biological dad.

“I asked Khloé Kardashian, like, 10 seconds before we were going to break about the rumors that her father wasn’t her father,” Guthrie described, noting that she had intentionally waited until the last moment because she was “so embarassed.”

However, she remembered Khloé handling the awkward situation like a “class act.”

“She was like, ‘Ah, nothing to it,’” Guthrie recalled.

Guthrie’s embarassing question came the same year that people began to speculate about Khloé’s paternity. At the time, many pointed out that she resembled the former Buffalo Bills running back, rather than her dad or her siblings.

At the height of the rumors, she was encouraged by her family to take a paternity test to silence the criticis. However, during an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” she refused to take it by station that her “dad is Robert Kardashian.”

Since then, the Good American founder hasn’t shied away from addressing the rumblings.

In 2017, when Simpson finished his prison sentence for a Las Vegas armed robbery, she took to social media to shut down those who kept bringing up the rumors.

“They are all f–ked lol such a–holes,” she responded via X (previously Twitter) at the time. “Hehe oh well… I’m happy and they hatin.”

Simpson also shut down the buzz in a 2022 episode of the “Full Send” podcast, saying, “The rumor ain’t true. It’s not even anywhere close to being true.”

He also said that, while Kris Jenner “was a cute girl” and “really nice,” he “was dating supermodels.”

OJ was notably best friends with Robert, who was also his lawyer when he was accused of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in 1994.

He was ultimately found not guilty a year later, though he was declared responsible for Goldman’s death in a lawsuit filed by the aspiring actor’s family.

Meanwhile, Jenner — who was also best friends with Nicole — and Robert were married from 1978 to 1991. Together, they welcomed Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob Jr.

Their marriage came to an end when Kris confessed to cheating on Robert with soccer player Todd Waterman in 1989.

In 2003, the attorney died following a battle with esophageal cancer. He was 59. The NFL player also died from cancer in 2024 at the age of 76.
