Scottie Scheffler Wins His Second Masters Tournament, Secures 2024 Green Jacket

Scottie Scheffler has a new green jacket!

The 27-year-old golfer won the 2024 Masters on Sunday in Augusta, Georgia, finishing the tournament -11 to secure his second major championship win.

It was Scheffler’s second triumph at Augusta in three years after winning the tournament in 2022.

Scheffler finished at -10 over Rory McIlroy (-7) and Shane Lowry and Cameron Smith (-5) in the 2022 win.

The athlete was already the world’s top-ranked golfer heading into the Masters, but started Sunday with a narrow lead. Following behind him was Swedish golfer Ludvig Åberg, who finished -7, and Max Homa, Colin Morikawa and others, ended the tournament -4.

Scheffler’s victory comes as he’ll soon earn another title: dad. The golfer and his wife Meredith Scheffler are expecting their first child this month, and she was unable to attend the Masters.

In fact, Scheffler told reporters that he’d leave play if his wife were to go into labor, according to Golfweek. “Definitely have a way to get home pretty quickly. We have somebody here that has access to their cell phone, if that’s all right. And, yes, I’ll be available to go home then whenever I need to.”

This year’s tournament marked the first Masters since the PGA Tour announced its intention to merge with LIV Golf.

Ten months later, the deal has yet to be finalized.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said last month that negotiations with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia are ongoing and that the merger is “going to take time.”
