Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry’s Relationship Timeline
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives offered glimpses into Mikayla Matthews’ dynamic with husband Jace Terry before their shocking separation.
When Hulu debuted The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in September 2024, viewers were introduced to Mikayla and Jace, along with Jen Affleck and husband Zac Affleck, Demi Engemann and husband Bret Engemann, Whitney Leavitt and husband Conner Leavitt, Mayci Neeley and husband Jacob Neeley, Jessi Ngatikaura and husband Jordan Ngatikaura, Taylor Frankie Paul and then-partner Dakota Mortensen and Layla Taylor. (Miranda Hope joined the show in season 2 after her split from Chase McWhorter.)
As the Utah-based content creators (a.k.a. MomTok) opened up about their personal lives, viewers questioned some of their relationships. Mikayla and Jace raised eyebrows after she revealed she was only 16 when she met Jace, who was 21 at the time. Mikayla revealed in a 2021 TikTok that she found out she was pregnant “after less than a month of knowing” Jace.
“I decided to keep the baby, told him and he was 110 percent supportive and we went from there,” she wrote at the time.
The pair welcomed four children before facing intimacy issues throughout season 3 of Mormon Wives while Mikayla worked through past sexual trauma. The problems continued in season 4 — which premiered in March 2026 — leading to Mikayla moving out of their shared home.
“I think it’s tricky in this environment, because I also need a lot of support from him going through all of it,” Mikayla exclusively told Us Weekly in March 2026, reflecting on where she and Jace stand now. “And so it’s kind of one of those things that we’re still navigating, and it still has its ups and still has its downs.”
Along with martial trouble, Mikayla was searching for answers about her chronic health issues.
“Unfortunately for me, it’s like I’m stuck in this place where my health is out of my control,” Mikayla explained to Us. “I feel like I can’t get anything else in my life under control once I have that under control. So it’s kind of just with time and patience. I think it’s something we’re still working through, and we’re still going to be working through for a while.”

“I think it’s hard anytime you bring up the stuff with the sex and the intimacy,” Mikayla told Jace on the show. “I feel it’s hard on me because again, my nervous system is already in fight or flight, and I’m already maxed out. My bucket is full.”
Jace urged Mikayla to fight for their marriage, adding, “I know, but for me, it seems like the solution to that would be to commit to trauma therapy until you’re at a point where it doesn’t make your nervous system freak out.”
After confirming their separation on screen, Mikayla played coy with Us about whether they were still living together.
“I mean, we’re filming now, obviously, so I can’t give too much away,” Mikayla told Us. “I’m having to figure out, is it my house that’s making me sick? Is it Utah that’s making me sick? And so I feel like there’s a lot of that frustration that’s weighing on me right now, like, a lot of anxiety and stress that way of, ‘OK, do I have to remove myself from my home, from my marriage, from the state? Like, what do I have to do to heal myself?’ I think that’s still something that I’m still very much in the thick of.”
