Shannen Doherty fights for spousal support amid divorce, reveals ‘Charmed’ residuals will dry up this year
Shannen Doherty wants her estranged husband to pay up.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum asked her ex Kurt Iswarienko for spousal support and payment for attorney fees in a filing submitted on June 14 and obtained by Us Weekly.
She reportedly requested $15,343 in monthly spousal support “retroactive to June 1, 2024” plus a lump sum of $9,100 for her attorney costs.
She is also seeking $11,800 for various fees she’s racked up “in efforts to obtain Kurt’s complete responses” to their divorce proceedings.
Doherty’s filing comes as she expects her streaming residuals to “drastically” reduce this year.
“As a result of my recurrent health issues, I have been largely unable to work and have no future employment prospects. Today, virtually all of the income I earn is residual income from work that I performed prior to marriage,” she reasoned in the legal documents.
She said a “majority” of her residual income is from “Charmed,” in which she starred as Prue Halliwel for its first three seasons between 1998 and 2001.
“I recently learned that ‘Charmed’ will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024. As a result, my future residual income will dramatically decrease,” she explained.
Furthermore, Doherty — who is living with stage 4 breast cancer — said her medical bills will “dramatically increase” when she loses her SAG health insurance from not working. She has only picked up one small role since 2022, in 2024’s “Darkness of Man.”
The actress, 53, went on to allege that Iswarienko, 49, should have no problem paying support and helping with her medical bills — which totaled $21,640 in 2023 — because he drops money on lavish experiences and items regularly.
“While I have been unable to work, incurring exorbitant medical expenses not covered by insurance to undergo experimental treatments in hopes of prolonging my life, Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights for his ‘agent’, while simultaneously claiming that he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” Doherty slammed in her filing.
Iswarienko’s “agent,” is Collier Grimm. Doherty believes they are romantically involved, according to her filing.
Further drilling into her ex, the “Heathers” actress added, “Although Kurt’s income is substantially more than mine, he has not made any temporary spousal support payments and has made no contributions to my attorneys’ or accounting fees and costs since the time our divorce action was filed.”
Page Six reached out to reps for Doherty and Iswarienko for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Doherty filed for divorce from Iswarienko, her third husband, in April 2023 after 11 years of marriage because she “had no other option,” her rep told Page Six at the time.
“You can contact Kurt’s agent, Collier Grimm at PICTUREKID, as she is intimately involved,” they added.
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and announced that it was in remission in 2017.
However, she revealed her cancer had come back — at stage four — in 2020. Last June, she said her cancer spread to her brain. By the fall, it had metastasized into her bones.
Although last year she said she felt it was not her time to die, Doherty divulged in April that she has been preparing for death by cleaning out her storage units and belongings so her mother, Rosa, has an “easier transition” when the time does come.
She said she even packed up her home in Tennessee despite her goal of living there with her mom.
“It was really hard and really emotional because to a certain extent — I felt like I was giving up on this dream of building this property out, and putting a house for me and a house for my mom and then extending the barn,” she noted.
