Shirtless Shia LaBeouf goes running, dines solo after arrest
Shia LaBeouf observed a much quieter Wednesday in Louisiana after partying all day Tuesday following his release from jail.
The actor was seen leaving his home in New Orleans at about 1:30 p.m. and going for a shirtless run around the park, per pictures exclusively obtained by Page Six.
After going back home, LaBeouf left again and visited two Catholic churches — St Francis of Assisi and St. Stephen — presumably to observe Ash Wednesday.
However, both churches were closed.
After church-hopping, he went to upscale Mediterranean restaurant Saj, where he chatted with a woman outside, though he ended up dining alone inside.
The “Even Stevens” alum, 39, had a much more chaotic Tuesday. He was arrested in the wee hours of the morning, after getting pummeled in a brawl during Mardi Gras.
He was charged with two counts of simple battery Page Six confirmed, and spent time behind bars at Orleans Parish Prison in Louisiana.
While it is unclear what started the altercation, sources told the Hollywood Reporter that LaBeouf had been in town for Mardi Gras celebrations since Thursday.
One bartender said the actor had been “terrorizing the city,” while a doorman at a dive bar Ms. Mae’s told the outlet that LaBeouf was “somewhat belligerent” when he approached the establishment without a shirt or cash.
LaBeouf was treated by paramedics after his bar brawl and was released from jail Tuesday. He refused to answer questions from a paparazzo about his arrest, then immediately walked two miles to go back to enjoying the Mardi Gras parade festivities.
The actor bought a new shirt and sunglasses and changed clothes, and was spotted drinking beer and chatting with fans. At one point, a camera captured him mocking his arrest by dancing with his jail paperwork in his mouth.
LaBeouf didn’t seem to regret any of his actions, tweeting early Wednesday morning, “Free me.”
He also shared a close-up selfie via X showing him smiling in black sunglasses while draped in purple, gold and green necklaces.
Page Six exclusively reported that LaBeouf and wife Mia Goth quietly split nearly a year ago. An insider told us that the “Transformers” star moved to New Orleans after the breakup to be closer to family members.
LaBeouf — who was raised by a Catholic father and a Jewish mother and was baptized and had a Bar Mitzvah — famously went deeper into Catholicism after starring in the 2022 movie “Padre Pio.”
While preparing for the film, in which he portrays Italian priest Francesco Forgione, he lived in a monastery with Franciscan Capuchin friars.
In an interview with Word on Fire Catholic Ministries’ Bishop Robert Barron back in August 2022, he said he had quit alcohol for good and had been sober for more than a year and a half after struggling with addiction issues.
He was later confirmed into the Catholic Church on New Year’s Eve 2023.
His confirmation sponsor, Capuchin friar Brother Alexander Rodriguez, told the Catholic News Agency at the time that the actor even wanted to become a deacon — “a minister of sacrament” who baptizes, leads prayers, witnesses marriages and conducts wake and funeral services.
