Shocking twist in Kim Kardashian’s attempts to buy dad Robert Kardashian’s Bible from OJ Simpson estate
Kim Kardashian revealed that she was the secret bidder who won her father Robert Kardashian’s bible from the OJ Simpson estate.
On the latest episode of “The Kardashians,” the Skims co-founder opened a package that contained the bible while chatting with her youngest daughter, Chicago.
“You are not going to believe what it is, nor will you even care, but you will understand one day,” Kim, 45, said to the 7-year-old.
“This is really special to me because this used to be my daddy’s,” she added.
The reality star then pulled out the Good Book, which was listed by Goldin Auctions as the “Robert Kardashian Signed, Inscribed, Personally Owned ‘The Living Bible’ given to O.J. Simpson.”
“When someone goes to heaven, their energy is always with us,” Kim told Chicago about the child’s late maternal grandfather.
A producer then asked the billionaire businesswoman when she got the bible.
“I just got it. I haven’t opened it yet,” she explained. “So if anyone was wondering who won that OJ Simpson auction, you best believe it was me.”
In a confessional, Kim then shared more details about how she obtained her father’s prized possession.
“My dad’s bible that he had given to OJ was up for auction, and I contacted the attorney to OJ’s estate to offer to buy it without having to go through the auction, and those emails allegedly leaked on TMZ,” she shared.
Kim said the “leaked” emails caused more people to bid for Robert’s bible.
“I get the game, but I definitely don’t wanna be used in that situation,” she shared. “So, we used an alias to bid on the bible so that my name wouldn’t be traced back to it.”
The reality star held the bible as she noticed her dad’s name etched on it.
“I thought it was a bible that my dad bought OJ and wrote in it. It’s actually my dad’s bible with his name inscribed on it. I didn’t know that,” the mom of four shared.
“So my daddy gave this book to his best friend to give him some motivation from Jesus,” she told her daughter.
Though Kim was excited to finally have the bible, she plans to give it to her sister Khloé Kardashian, who first alerted the “All’s Fair” actress about the auction.
“I am so excited to give this to Khloe. She was the one [who] showed me this auction first. So I think that she deserves to have this bible,” Kim explained.
In March, Simpson’s estate rejected Kim’s offer to purchase the bible for $15,000.
“The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money — why would I spend $15,000 in attorney’s fees — to sell it to Kim for $15,000?” Malcolm LaVergne, the manager in charge of selling the late NFL player’s belongings to pay off his debts, told People at the time.
“That’s a zero-sum game. That’s a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000 for it, we would’ve been in court getting this approved outside of the auction,” he continued.
That same month, the bible was revealed to be sold for $80,276 — which is now known to be Kim’s offer.
Robert, who died at age 59 from esophageal cancer in September 2003, gifted Simpson the bible in June 1994 — after the former Buffalo Bills star was arrested following an infamous Ford Bronco chase in Los Angeles.
Kim’s late father served on Simpson’s defense team during the high-profile murder trial in the ’90s.
The former athlete was found not guilty of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman in June 1994.
OJ died in April 2024 after a battle with prostate cancer. He was 76.
