‘Sister Wives’ Preview: Kody Confesses to Owing Robyn an Apology ‘Most of All’ for Remaining ‘Loyal’ (Exclusive)

Kody Brown has a heart-to-heart with wife Robyn Brown on the latest episode of Sister Wives, confessing he might’ve neglected her amid his three failed marriages.

“I need to stop with the self deprecation. Regarding you and me,” Kody, 56, tells Robyn, 47, in Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Sunday, January 4, episode after finishing his ex-wives apology tour.

“The only thing that I’ve kind of pulled away from is when you’re emotionally unsafe,” Robyn responds, seemingly on board with Kody’s new approach to their marriage. “That’s it.”

Kody notes that “some of the things I’ve done recently may help” him being more present with Robyn, referring to his meetings with exes Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown following their respective splits.

After taking a pause, Kody turns to Robyn and really sees her. “Thanks for being loyal,” he says in an emotional moment between the couple.

“Well, you deserve it. You’ve earned it from me, honey. I’m right here,” Robyn reassures her spouse, whom she legally wed in 2014 after spiritually tying the knot four years prior.

Kody acknowledges that Robyn has always had his back, realizing almost in that moment that he never told her how much that meant while he was struggling with his breakups.

“It hasn’t been very fair. I haven’t been very fair with you,” he confesses. “I’ve been apologizing to everybody. In spite of all how brutal they were. I was apologizing to them.”

Kody admits, “But you were never brutal. You’re never unkind. You’re never disloyal. I’ve been apologizing to everybody. I think I owe you an apology most of all.”

As Robyn takes in Kody’s heartfelt apology, he continues to process his recent actions in a confessional interview.

“Holy cow, I’ve apologized to everybody but you,” he tells the cameras of Robyn, calling her “the woman who has been so supportive through all of my BS, all of my weakness, all of my anger, all of my ranting and raving and complaining.”

As Sister Wives fans have learned in recent years, Kody’s plural family began falling apart one wife at a time starting in 2021.

His third wife, Christine, 53, announced in November 2021 that she and Kody had called it quits after more than 25 years together. Her choice to leave him and the greater polygamist family started a ripple effect.

His second wife Janelle, 56, followed suit, announcing her separation from Kody in December 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage.

Kody’s first wife, Meri — whom he was legally married to from 1990 to 2014 and then remained spiritually married to for nearly another decade — confirmed in January 2023 that she and Kody had also parted ways.

With each split, Kody grew a little more distant with his remaining wife Robyn, but she remained committed to him and their life — even if it was now a monogamous one.

During season 20 of Sister Wives, Kody traveled to see all of his exes to apologize for how they ended things and the negative remarks he made about them during that dark time. Upon his return to Arizona, where he and Robyn live, he tells the cameras that he’s found a bit of peace.

“I almost want to say, like, a phoenix metaphor,” Kody says of his journey in Us’ preview of this week’s episode. “This life that we had before has been kind of burned down. I’m like [not] burning it all down so that I forget it. I want to remember it and cherish it and move forward with the lessons that I learned from it in a relationship that is very beautiful, very safe, very whole.”

Robyn, meanwhile, tells the cameras she’s happy with the positive changes she’s seen in Kody since he found closure.

“I think taking accountability for his part in the marriages falling apart I think was something that gave him some peace and help in his healing,” she says in the clip. “But then I also just see him just kind of taking a sigh of relief. Just like, ‘OK, I took accountability for my part.’”
