Stacey Solomon practices her BAFTAs speech in the mirror

Stacey Solomon shared the touching support she had received backstage from Danny Dyer at the BAFTA Television Awards over the weekend ahead of her presenting an award at the event.

The presenter, 34, was among the guests in attendance for the occasion at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday. Stacey presented the award for factual entertainment, which went to the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World.

She posted about the experience on Instagram, with her having kept fans updated on the occasion over the evening. It included Stacey sharing footage of herself backstage at the venue prior to her taking to the stage to present.

The video appeared to show her rehearsing the script for her segment. Danny, 46, who was also presenting an award at the ceremony, was visible in a mirror behind her and Stacey suggested in the caption that he had supported her.

She wrote in the caption that accompanied the recent video: “Live footage of me backstage reading my script & crapping my pants … shout out to [Danny] in the mirror here who is the nicest human & instantly makes you feel calm.”

Stacey later shared a clip of herself presenting on stage and wrote alongside it that she had found the experience “nerve racking”. She told fans: “Honestly I know you might think after 15 years of working in telly this wouldn’t phase me any more. But I can genuinely say I get SO nervous every time.”

She continued: “Even just being in a room full of people who inspire me & I aspire to I find extremely nerve racking.” Alongside a laughing emoji she told her followers on the platform: “I never know what to say to people.”

The presenter concluded the caption of the post by writing: “I am so very awkward! My comfort zone is at home in my pjs I’m not very show biz tbh. But I feel super proud that I went & did it. And so grateful to have been asked.”

Stacey had previously told her followers that she was both “nervous” and “excited” to be presenting at the event. She wrote in a post ahead of the occasion: “Feeling beautiful. And nervous & excited & honoured. Off to the BAFTAs to present an award. So grateful to have been asked to do this!

“But also my mouth is as dry as the Sahara & my tummy is tingling. But it’s the F**k it year, so stepping out of the zone I’ve got myself comfortable in is what 2024 is all about! Happy Sunday everyone! Wish me luck. If I mess it up let’s all pretend I didn’t yeah? your messages have been SO lovely! Best bunch of mates ever! To the moon and back.”
