After living across the pond for over a decade, Stanley Tucci admits sometimes he and his youngest children are “separated by a common language.”

During an appearance on the Tuesday, April 29, episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, The Lovely Bones actor, 64, spoke with hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos about life in the U.K., where he’s lived for almost 13 years. Tucci said his youngest children, Emilia, 7, and Matteo, 10, have British accents, and he admitted to having to, as Ripa puts it, “speak British to them,” so they understand him.

“I do, yeah. It’s a completely different language,” he said. “Who was it? Was it Churchill who said that America and England are the same country separated by a common language? My little kids, they have British accents, so it’s always funny.”

When Ripa jokingly asked if his youngest children “naturally sound smarter” than him, he replied, “Without question. And they actually are smarter than me.”
