Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are breaking the internet.

The musicians, who made up the musical duo Buckingham Nicks before joining Fleetwood Mac in the 1970s, have fans on the edge of their seats after sharing two seemingly coordinated Instagram posts on Thursday, July 17.

Nicks, 77, posted the handwritten words “and if you go forward…” Buckingham, 75, then posted an image with the words “I’ll follow you there.” The posts are lyrics from the 1973 Buckingham Nicks song “Frozen Love.”

It’s worth noting that days before their Instagram posts were shared, Mick Fleetwood posted a video of himself listening to “Frozen Love,” reflecting on the magic of Fleetwood Mac thanks to his bandmates.

“The marriage of Stevie and Lindsey, the marriage of coming into Fleetwood Mac when they did — it’s all in the song. It’s in the music,” Fleetwood, 78, said of the song. “It’s magic then, magic now. What a thrill. Amen.”

Reps for each had no immediate comment on the mysterious Instagram posts.

Fans are speculating what the cryptic posts could mean, especially considering their history as former flames. “lindsey buckingham and stevie nicks working it out at their age…oh you can never get away from the sound of the woman who loves you,” one person wrote, quoting “Silver Springs.”

“oh those two crazy kids (stevie nicks 77 and lindsey buckingham 75),” another joked of their decades-long tumultuous relationship.

Some speculate that their 1973 album will be remastered and released. “me watching stevie nicks and lindsey buckingham post matching instagram pictures for a buckingham nicks reissue in 2025,” one fan posted with a clip of Jennifer Lawrence crying on Hot Ones.

“Okay wait you guys remember how they removed some Buckingham Nicks live tracks from Spotify a while ago???? It’s all coming together,” another theorized.

“WHY DID THE FLEETWOOD MAC INSTA JUST POST MICK LISTENING TO FROZEN LOVE???? IS BUCKINGHAM NICKS FINALLY GETTING REMASTERED???” a third wrote.

These mysterious Instagram posts come seven years after Fleetwood Mac kicked Buckingham out of the band in 2018, which also marked the last time the band performed together. Buckingham was working on a solo album when the band was set to tour.

The tension surrounding the issue led to the band imploding during a MusiCares performance.

Reflecting on his departure, Buckingham told PEOPLE in 2021, “It was all Stevie’s doing.”

“Stevie basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go. It would be like [Mick] Jagger saying, “Well, either Keith [Richards] has to go or I’m going to go.’ “

Nicks, however, said otherwise in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself.”

“I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it,” she added at the time.

In 2024, Fleetwood said he would “love” to see the musicians reconcile. “It’s no secret, it’s no title-tattle that there is a brick wall there emotionally,” he said, speaking to MOJO.

“Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey. But I’ll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them – and that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily.”
