Stevie Nicks’ younger brother, Christopher, dead at 72 following cancer battle
Christopher Nicks has died following a private battle with cancer at the age of 72.
The younger brother of Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks passed away while surrounded by his family on Friday, his daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks, announced via Facebook.
“Some of you may know that he has spent the last 2.5 years battling a cancer diagnosis, and to some this may come as a shock,” she wrote.
“If this is news to you, please know it was because he never wanted people to worry about him that he kept this to himself,” Nixi continued.
Nixi emotionally shared the “mark” the patriarch had left “on so many people,” adding, “This will leave many more than his immediate family with a piece of them missing.”
“I know I speak for my dad when I say that his friends, his lost boys, meant the world to him,” she continued, referring to his close circle.
Christopher was mourned by his ex-wife and Nixi’s mom, Lori Perry-Nicks.
“We will all miss him, in so many ways,” she wrote in the comments section.
“He was an anomaly … And they certainly broke the mold when they created him. There will never be another one like him … I miss you already,” Lori added.
Nixi also honored her father via her Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of herself holding his hand.
“Second star to the right, and straight on till morning. I love you, daddy. Rest easy. 🕊️,” she captioned the photo.
In a follow-up video, she thanked fans for sharing their stories and experiences with Christopher and for their well wishes.
While Stevie, 78, has yet to address her brother’s death, her bandmate Mick Fleetwood, 79, shared a touching Instagram tribute Saturday.
“The passing of Chris Nicks has brought so many memories of his amazing life,” the musician wrote. “Much of course was shared connected to Fleetwood Mac. His zest for life will be a forever beacon of inspiration !!
“Chris you will be missed by me and I know the Family of Fleetwood Mac,” he added before signing off, “Peace and love … Mick Fleetwood.🥁❤️🥁❤️.”
