Sydney Sweeney gives rare insight on ‘beautiful’ Glen Powell relationship
Sydney Sweeney gushed over her “beautiful” relationship with Glen Powell while denying romance rumors.
“Glen and I genuinely care for each other and have a love and respect for one another,” the actress — who starred alongside Powell in the 2023 romcom “Anyone But You” — told Variety in an interview published Monday.
“I love being with him. And I think people just truly saw a really beautiful pairing.”
Sweeney, 28, also addressed whether she and Powell, 37, leaned into romance rumors while promoting the Will Gluck-directed film.
“Honestly, the press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se,” she told the outlet. “Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was ‘They’re standing two inches apart!”‘
The “Euphoria” star shared that she would be open to filming a sequel, saying she and the actor would “jump in hand in hand” if the “concept and script” are right.
“We are always open to it,” Sweeney said.
In 2023, the “White Lotus” star and Powell’s on-set chemistry had fans speculating the duo were romantically involved despite Sweeney being engaged to her now ex-Jonathan Davino and the actor dating his now ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris.
Powell and Paris split during the filming of the movie, further fueling the rumor mill.
Since then, Sweeney has repeatedly denied romance rumors, telling Variety that same year, “Sometimes I feel beat up by it.”
“It’s hard to sit back and watch, and not be able to stand up for yourself,” she added.
Paris, however, recently gave fans an inside look at her split with Powell, admitting that she was “shattered” by his and Sweeney’s alleged romance chatter when she decided to separate from the “Hit Man” star.
“I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she OK with this? What the f–k,’” she explained on the “Too Much” podcast in June 2025.
Paris shared that ultimately she had to “stand up for [herself],” adding, “[I could] say, ‘No, I’m actually not OK with this, and I’m walking away. So that’s what I decided to do.”
She also called out Powell for not ever addressing the chatter or saying he “would never cheat on [his] girlfriend.”
“That’s all that needed to be said. And that wasn’t said. Never once,” the influencer continued, saying that her ex and Sweeney leaned into the rumors for PR.
Powell, meanwhile, addressed Paris’ comments in September, telling GQ that “everybody’s always going to have their own narrative on things and all that. And she’s welcome to it.”
