Taylor Swift is wearing her heart on her sleeve while sitting next to her love!

Swift, 35, stopped by the New Heights podcast, hosted by boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and proceeded to get choked up multiple times while detailing her extensive process to regain the rights to her music.

“I thought about not owning my music every day. It was like an intrusive thought I had every day,” Swift shared of her mindset ahead of her May announcement that she had purchased her old music back.

Swift noted that she went into the sale leading “heart first” to show just how important the music was to her.

“I want it because this is my hand-written diary entries from my whole life,” she explained. “These are the songs I wrote about every phase of my life. This is my photography, my music videos, most of which I funded, my artwork. Everything that I’ve ever done is in this catalogue.”

The “Bad Blood” singer got choked up sharing that she sent her mother, Andrea Swift, and brother, Austin Swift, into the room to meet with Shamrock Capital, who owned the rights.

“Sorry — this happens, because, I don’t ever really talk about it because…” Swift said as Travis, 35, put his arm around his girlfriend, smiling with pride. “They sat down with Shamrock Capital and told them what this meant to me.”

Swift noted that she learned that Shamrock Capital had accepted her offer shortly after the Super Bowl while she was staying with Travis in Kansas City.

“We were in Kansas City, and I get a call from my mom and she’s like, ‘We got your music,’ ” Swift recalled, tearing up again during the podcast. “So sorry, it’s literally been so long since this happened. It’s every time I talk about it. I just very dramatically hit the floor, for real.”

The pop star said the news prompted her to “bawl my eyes out” before she went to tell her boyfriend who was playing video games. The NFL star was alarmed when his girlfriend entered the room in tears.

“He puts his headset down. He’s like, ‘Guys, I gotta go,’ ” Swift said. “I think you thought something was wrong. I was like, ‘I got my music back,’ and then just start absolutely heaving.”

“Just deadweight. Just deadweight,” Travis said, laughing.

“Dropped, had no power in my life to support myself,” she said. “Yeah, this changed my life. I can’t believe it still. Every time I think about it, I have to tell the short version to everyone. This will affect the rest of my life. I think about this every day now but instead of it being an intrusive thought that hurts me, I’m like, ‘I can’t believe this happened. How lucky am I?’ ”

And Swift wasn’t the only one who was emotional.

“I started crying too, you know I’m a crier,” Travis admitted, with Swift adding, “You were weeping.”

“Oh yeah, that’s the Kelce way,” Jason agreed.

The Grammy winner previously announced her upcoming 12th album The Life of a Showgirl in a teaser for the New Heights episode shared on Aug. 12.

In the clip, the star asked the Kelce brothers if she could show them something, and offered up a briefcase containing a blurred-out copy of her new album, prompting a cheer from Travis.

The album marks Swift’s first new release since finishing the Eras Tour in December 2024, and since the release of The Tortured Poets Department in April 2024. It’s also the first record she’ll put out after regaining control of her song catalog, nearly six years after it was first sold to Scooter Braun.

Hours before the podcast episode premiered, the trio teased it once again, with Jason, 37, making an enthusiastic introduction for the pop star.

“92 Percenters, are you ready for it?” Jason said as he introduced Swift. “Making her podcasting debut, the most requested guest in the history of shows, Taylor Swiftttt!”

She later thanked the brothers for having her on what she called her “favorite podcast” — and took a playful swipe at their demographic.

“As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast,” she said. “I think we all know that if there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it’s more of me.”

Swift’s joke comes after she received backlash from football fans for being shown too many times on screen during games, though the NFL has said featuring the star is a normal part of their strategy, and they’ve seen “an incredible amount of positivity around the sport” while featuring her.
