Taylor Swift’s Gucci outfits were a ‘Life of a Showgirl’ Easter egg all along

Taylor Swift’s Gucci ensembles were tailored to fit her perfectly — and apparently, they suit her new music as well.

According to leaked lyrics from her upcoming 12th studio album, “Life of a Showgirl,” that have been circulating online, Swift’s relatively recent embrace of the Italian luxury label might’ve been a major Easter egg.

“Good thing I like my friends cancelled / I like ’em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal,” Swift sings in the track “Cancelled!”

The Grammy winner has been spotted wearing Gucci both on red carpets and while off-duty over the course of the past year or so.

From embracing the Italian label’s iconic “G” logo print during date nights with fiancé Travis Kelce to more sparkly, showgirl-worthy looks, it’s clear that there is a method to Swift’s sartorial (and songwriting) madness.

And her fashion choices are a way into her characters, no matter the era.

Fans were wowed by the “Reputation” singer’s slinky green sequined Gucci gown at the 2024 Golden Globes. Attending as a nominee for her film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” in the newly created category of cinematic and box office achievement (“Barbie” ultimately won), she palled around with longtime bestie Selena Gomez throughout the evening.

Similarly, Swift donned a dazzling Gucci getup when she and Gomez stepped out in June to celebrate the purchase of her master recordings with a dinner at Monkey Bar in NYC.

In addition to her embellished tank top and miniskirt, Swift wore a pair of metallic platform heels and carried a bamboo-handled bag from the brand.

“The Life of a Showgirl” album officially drops tomorrow, Oct. 3, at midnight.
