Teen Mom’s Jenelle Evans Says She’s ‘Doing Everything That I Can’ for Son Jace Amid Custody Dispute
Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans says that she is focused on her children amid her ongoing extended family drama.
“I shouldn’t even be getting on here to say anything, but I feel like I have to,” Evans, 34, said in a TikTok video posted Saturday, March 28. “I feel like at this moment it is imperative for my family to have their privacy.”
Evans acknowledged that a variety of online rumors have recently claimed that she is “the villain” regarding Jace’s care, which she debunked in her social media upload.
“I’m such an easy target, [but] in actuality, behind the scenes, I am doing everything that I can for my child,” Evans said, referring to 16-year-old son Jace whom she shares with ex Andrew Lewis. “I am doing what’s in the best interests for him and that’s none of your business to know.”
News broke earlier this month that Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans, filed for emergency custody of Jace after the teen allegedly pulled a gun on his relatives in February. (Jace was living with Barbara in North Carolina at the time, while Jenelle is based in Las Vegas with her younger two children.)
Barbara’s motion, however, was ultimately denied.
While addressing the speculation over her family, Janelle denied that she was “doing nothing” or didn’t care about Jace’s welfare..
“One thing I will do is put my whole life on pause for my kids, especially if something is going on,” Jenelle stated on Saturday. “If you’re wondering where my podcast is, it’s on pause, and it’s on pause for a good, legit reason.”
She continued, “I will say [that] every decision I make as a mother is for a reason — and it’s for a good reason. So, just know maybe one day we can share this story and it’ll be a redemption story and a positive one but, at the moment, it’s not the time for that. So with all due respect, including my family, please, just back off a little bit, please? Let us breathe.”
As Jenelle prioritizes her children, she has taken a step back from posting on social media.
“A lot of people are, like, ‘Why are you acting so happy?’ In actuality, I’m not going to sit here and just cry on TikTok all the time but I have my days [where] I’ve been crying,” she said. “I’ve been crying for days, for weeks, on and off, honestly, about a bunch of different situations. I haven’t been posting as much and it’s really hard for me to post at the moment because I’m just focusing so much on my children that it’s not the time and place to be online.”
Jenelle concluded, “I am not the villain in this and you guys, eventually, will see that.”
Moments earlier on Saturday, Jenelle shared a photo of Jace to her Instagram Stories.
“Over and out ✌️ ✈️,” the MTV personality captioned a snap of Jace playing on an iPad from an airplane seat. It is not known where the mother-son pair were traveling to or from.
