Tiger Woods charged with DUI
Authorities released an update on Tiger Woods following his terrifying car crash in Jupiter Island, Fla., on Friday.
According to authorities, Woods was driving a “dark colored Land Rover” when he attempted to pass a utility pressure cleaner truck, allegedly clipping the “back end” of the truck’s trailer, at which point it rolled.
Cops stated that the athlete crawled out of his vehicle following the incident.
DUI investigators at the scene conducted tests at the scene. “Woods showed signs of impairment and refused a urinalysis test, leading to charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test,” authorities said.
The golf great is currently in custody in Florida.
News broke on Friday afternoon that the golf legend, 50, had been involved in the crash, per an ABC News report that emphasized that his condition was “not immediately clear.”
The crash happened just after 2 p.m. near 281 Beach Road, according to the outlet, and a photograph from the site showed a vehicle on its side.
A source shared with Page Six on Friday that Vanessa Trump — whom Woods has been in a relationship with since early 2025 — nor Vanessa’s daughter Kai were with Woods during the incident.
It’s unclear if anyone else was with the athlete at the time of the crash.
Woods’ rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on the crash Friday.
The five-time Masters champ had recently returned to the sport on Tuesday, appearing in the TGL Finals.
In February 2021, the 15-time major champion was involved in another dangerous rollover crash, this time in Palos Verdes, Los Angeles.
Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in February 2021 that the athlete was “able to communicate,” but still “was not able to get up” and that it was “not an option.”
“It was very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive,” Deputy Carlos Gonzalez said at the time.
He suffered serious injuries in the rollover, and as a result, underwent leg procedures and multiple knee and back surgeries.
In October 2025, he underwent a disc replacement, and has received multiple microdiscectomies, as well.
Back in May 2017, Woods was arrested in Jupiter, Fla, on suspicion of driving under the influence, with an incident report claiming he’d fallen asleep at the wheel and “had to be woken up.”
Woods was later released from custody on his own recognizance.
Amid a cheating scandal that ultimately ended his marriage to Elin Nordegren — with whom he shares two children — he also crashed a Cadillac SUV into a neighbor’s tree, also in Florida, in 2009.
