Tom Hanks Celebrates ‘Beautiful’ Wife Rita Wilson’s 69th Birthday with Candid Vacation Photo: ‘She Is Beloved’

Tom Hanks is celebrating Rita Wilson on her birthday!

The actor, 69, marked his wife’s 69th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 26, with an Instagram tribute post.

“This beautiful woman celebrates her birthday TODAY,” Tom wrote in his caption alongside a smiley photo of Wilson after she took a dip in the ocean while on vacation.

“She is beloved by her husband,” he added. “Happy Birthday, @ritawilson!”

Tom and Wilson have been married since 1988 and share two kids: Chester “Chet” Marlon Hanks, 35, and Truman Theodore Hanks, 29. The Forrest Gump actor is also dad to son Colin Hanks, 47, and daughter Elizabeth Hanks, 43, both of whom he shares with ex-wife Samantha Lewes.

Tom and Wilson first met on the set of Bosom Buddies in 1981, and instantly hit it off as friends. They later began dating and made their red carpet debut as a couple in 1986.

Opening up about his marriage to Wilson in a 2001 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tom said, “The success of our relationship was a matter of timing, maturity and our willingness to have an intimate connection. When I married Rita, I thought, ‘This is going to require some change on my part.’ I won’t deny that providence was part of us finding each other, but our relationship isn’t magic — the way it’s shown in movies.”

He added, “In real life, our connection is as concrete as me sitting here. Not that marriage doesn’t come close to being hell in a handbasket sometimes. But we both know that no matter what, we’ll be with each other — and we’ll get through it.”

Over the decades, Tom and Wilson have not been shy about sharing their love for each other.

When Tom celebrated his 67th birthday in 2023, Wilson wrote a touching tribute on Instagram, calling the Big star her “best friend.”

“Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children,” she wrote alongside a photo of Tom.

“He is one of the smartest people I know, has made me laugh every day for 38 years, can nap anywhere at anytime,” she added. “Happy happy birthday my love!”

When the couple marked their 37th wedding anniversary back in May, Tom shared another vacation photo of himself and Wilson.
