Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s debt balloons as exes owe $400K for decade-old loan
Tori Spelling and estranged husband Dean McDermott haven’t paid off a six-figure loan from over a decade ago, and the amount owed has ballooned to almost $400,000.
The breakdown of what is owed was outlined in City National Bank’s judgement renewal application, which was filed last week in Los Angeles and obtained by Page Six on Monday.
While the debt came out to $220,088.37, interest and fees have continued to mount, bringing the total to $395,729.82.
Us Weekly was first to report the news.
In 2012, City National Bank loaned Spelling and McDermott $400,000, which they promised to repay with interest.
The bank first filed a complaint against the then-couple in December 2016, claiming they still owed a balance of $188,803.38.
City National Bank continued to follow up, but the actress, 52, and the actor, 58, refused to cough up the money, so they received a default judgement in 2019 that stated she had to hand over $219,796.66, while he was responsible for $202,066.10.
The only defendant named in the latest filing is Spelling, so it’s unclear what — if anything — McDermott owes at this time.
Reps for duo, as well as attorneys for City National Bank, have not responded to Page Six’s multiple requests for comment.
Spelling and McDermott — who separated in June 2023 after 17 years of marriage — share five children: son Liam, 18, daughter Stella, 17, daughter Hattie, 13, son Finn, 12, and son Beau, 8. McDermott is also dad to son Jack, 25.
Amid her separation from McDermott, Spelling and the kids spent weeks living in a $100-a-night motel after learning that their house at the time was infested with “extreme” mold.
After that, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star and her brood stayed in an RV for a period of time, going on to bounce from rental property to rental property.
In November 2023, it was reported that the State of California Franchise Tax Board had filed several tax liens against her Calabasas home because she reportedly owed almost $100,000 in unpaid taxes.
Then on an episode of her “misSPELLING” podcast the following August, Spelling quipped — or perhaps stated seriously — that she would “have to go on OnlyFans” in order to send all of her kids to college.
