Tori Spelling has to ‘remind’ herself not to call ex Dean McDermott ‘babe’ anymore: ‘Super challenging’

Tori Spelling admitted that she still accidentally calls her estranged husband, Dean McDermott, “babe.”

“I don’t know if anyone has gone through this, but I’ve never called him ‘Dean,’” she explained on Tuesday’s episode of her “Misspelling” podcast. “I’ve called him ‘babe’ for 20 years, so it is super hard to remind myself that like, ‘Oh, OK, you guys aren’t together anymore.’”

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star –– who has five kids with McDermott –– explained that it’s been “super challenging” for her to change her language ever since they separated in June 2023.

“So, when we’re doing kid drop-off and switcheroos, and he’s over helping, ‘I’m like, ‘Oh babe!’ And I think to myself, ‘Is that OK? Like, I just called him babe,’” she continued.

Spelling, 51, clarified that her ex is “cool with it” and understands why she’s having the slip ups.

“I’m just like, ‘Oh, old habits die hard,’” she said. “But, to me, it’s like that’s his name. It’s not ‘D-E-A-N,’ it’s ‘B-A-B-E.’ It’s babe!”

Spelling also admitted that she’s accidentally called him the pet name in front of his current girlfriend, Lily Calo.

“It has slipped a couple times in front of his girlfriend, Lily, who I adore, and we have a great relationship,” she said.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Spelling said that co-parenting with McDermott has been going “very well.”

The “Scary Movie 2” actress and the former “Chopped Canada” host share sons Liam, 17, Finn, 12, and Beau, 8, and daughters Stella, 16, Hattie, 13.

McDermott, 58, initially announced that they were separating after 17 years of marriage in June 2023, but Spelling didn’t file for divorce until March 2024.

Spelling later revealed that they decided to get divorced after getting into blow-up argument where she hurled a baked potato on the ground.

“He said, ‘I want a divorce. This is over.’ And I said, ‘OK. Great. OK,’” she said on her “Misspelling” podcast last April.

Shortly after their separation, McDermott was seen moving on with Calo. Meanwhile, Spelling was also photographed packing on the PDA with a mystery man in November 2023.

The exes have since been photographed co-parenting their five children together and appear to be amicable while out and about.
