Travis Kelce finally reacts to teammate Harrison Butker’s homemaker speech
Travis Kelce disagreed with “the majority” of Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech.
Nearly two weeks after the Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s “homemaker” comments made headlines, Kelce reacted on Friday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast.
While the tight end, 34, acknowledged that his teammate, 28, is a “great person” who is entitled to his views, he clarified that didn’t agree with “just about any of it besides him loving his family and his kids.”
Kelce went on to praise his mom, Donna Kelce, and his dad, Ed Kelce, for both being “homemakers” and “providers” in his childhood home.
“They were unbelievable at being present every single day of my life,” Travis said. “That was a beautiful upbringing for me. … I’m not the same person without both of them being who they were in my life.
“I’m just gonna go back to my beliefs and my family,” he continued. “My views are never gonna be the same as the man next to me.”
The athlete noted, “You put your differences inside for one goal in common, and that’s the beauty of team sports.”
His co-host and brother, Jason Kelce, said that his wife, Kylie Kelce, was “frustrated” with what Butker said at the Benedictine College commencement.
The former Philadelphia Eagles player, 36, joked that he told her to “go back in the kitchen and make [him] a sandwich” while he watched a game.
“We were doing so good,” Travis said through his laughter. “We were killing it. … You’re ridiculous.”

Jason concluded by telling Butker “best of luck with [his] kicks.”
He and Travis did not mention Butker referring to Taylor Swift as his “teammate’s girlfriend” in the address — and quoting her “Bejeweled” lyrics.
The Grammy winner, 34, has yet to react to the speech.
As for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he broke his silence on Wednesday, telling a reporter that Butker is a “good person” although they “might not” share the same “values.”
Butker, for his part, has been silent on social media since his May 15 speech — in which he took aim at working women and Pride Month — went viral.
He and Travis have played together since Butker joined the Missouri-based team in 2017.
Butker commented on Travis’ whirlwind romance with Swift in March, sharing his hopes that the couple “get married and start a family” with EWTN News in Depth.
He is married to wife Isabelle Butker, with whom he shares a daughter and son.
