Trinity Rodman Breaks into Boyfriend Ben Shelton’s Press Conference with Surprise Question

Ben Shelton was hit with a question out of left field (ehem, court?).

When discussing his second-round victory over Pablo Carreno Busta during his post-match US Open press conference on Wednesday, Aug. 27, the professional tennis player was asked a question from an unexpected guest: his girlfriend, Trinity Rodman.

“So, how did it feel not being able to serve faster than 135[mph] today?” Rodman, 23, teased the typically fast-serving Shelton, 22, during the press conference.

Shelton, visibly in shock at the sight of his girlfriend in the room, smiled and said with a laugh, “Why’d you give her a question?,” before turning his head off stage to jokingly inquire about how his girlfriend entered the press conference conversation.

“My orders from the boss over there,” an unidentified person not pictured on camera replied to the tennis pro.

Laughs from the members of the media at the presser filled the room before he answered Rodman, who continued to playfully heckle her boyfriend about his on-court performance.

“I just know you like to serve big and it wasn’t breaking 140 today,” the soccer star added.

“Yeah, it was cold outside,” Shelton replied. “So, I think that was the main reason. I was focused on hitting spots and I didn’t hit those spots, so maybe I should just serve bigger — but, something I’ll definitely work on next time.”

“[They] let anyone in the room at this point!” he said, jokingly, smiling wide as he got up from his chair when the press conference wrapped.

Shelton is the No. 6 seed at the 2025 US Open. He will next face French veteran Adrian Mannarino in the third round of the men’s singles tournament on Aug. 29.

The tennis and soccer star made their relationship public in March 2025. Since then, they’ve supported each other in their respective sports and shared PDA-filled photos on Instagram.

Recently, Rodman showed her excitement for her boyfriend online when she uploaded a video of herself watching him take home his first ATP Masters 1000 title with his victory at Canada’s National Bank Open in Toronto on Aug. 7.

The USWNT star shared two posts on her Instagram Stories the night of the match. The first was a clip of her live reaction to his win and the second featured a heartfelt tribute.

“I watch you every day work your ass off. I see everyone who doubts you,” began Rodman, who penned the note on her Stories alongside a repost of Tennis TV’s Instagram marking Shelton’s win.
