‘Unhappy’ Shia LaBeouf gives insight into his, Mia Goth’s split — and where they stand

Shia LaBeouf copped to “fail[ing]” in his marriage to Mia Goth in a new interview.

The “Even Stevens” alum, 39, broke down exactly what led to his split from the actress, 32, on “Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan” Saturday.

“We were deeply unhappy,” the former Disney Channel star explained over the weekend. “I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way.”

LaBeouf recalled, “We tried … to fix it, and it was impossible, and we both became very unhappy. And it’s not good to be unhappy around a baby. It’s not good to be unhappy around kids.

“But it’s important to be proximate,” he noted. “You must be around. And this became quite a weird Tetris.”

The filmmaker, who shares 3-year-old daughter Isabel with Goth, claimed he couldn’t “speak too much about” their breakup.

As for where they stand now, LaBeouf raved over the “Pearl” star.

“That’s a good girl,” he gushed. “That’s one of the best girls that ever lived. She’s incredible, that woman. Incredible … all the time. 10 out of 10.”

LaBeouf claimed the duo “are good as is” with “nothing” to “repair” while confirming host Andrew Callaghan’s question about whether they are “divorced.”

He said, “We’re in a good spot. I mean, this isn’t new. … We’ve been there for a while, we’re trying to figure out co-parenting, and we’re good. Even through all this, she gives me grace.”

The “Honey Boy” star, who “still talk[s] to [his] kid twice a day,” quipped, “Any other woman would be like, ‘Yo, f–k you, get out of here! I don’t want to talk to you!’ She don’t do that to me … even when things are hanky.”

He has been trying to “rebuild” in New Orleans — and isn’t worried about custody specifics, explaining, “[Goth is] going to film in France. I’ve got to film in April. So I got some time where I’m gonna run out there and be dad for a minute while Mommy’s gotta film. … We’re the circus family.”

LaBeouf and Goth have been together on and off since 2012, tying the knot in 2016 and breaking up two years later — only to reconcile by 2020 and go on to welcome Isabel.

Page Six broke the news last month that the pair are on the outs again and have been over for nearly a year.

Their marriage struggles made headlines on the heels of LaBeouf’s Mardi Gras arrest, which he addressed in Saturday’s interview, alleging he doesn’t have an alcohol problem but a “small man complex.”

“[My issues] have to do with anger and ego more so than my drinking,” the Daytime Emmy winner told viewers of the “dirty, ugly [and] disgusting” brawl that got him handcuffed in February. “I’m trying to navigate it. I’ll figure it out.”

LaBeouf, who has long struggled publicly with sobriety, revealed he fell off the wagon nine months ago by drinking kava after nine months sober.

As for the longest the “Transformers” star has ever abstained from alcohol, LaBeouf said, “I was probably sober a year before the birth of my daughter until a year [after] my daughter’s birth and then life became life. And then kava.”

He referred to his previous sobriety as “inauthentic” because he’d “made a bunch of decisions” to “calm everything down,” whether that be the court system or a relationship.

LaBeouf was arrested again on a battery charge over the weekend and currently remains behind bars.

Goth, meanwhile, attended the SAG Actor Awards 2026 Sunday as she and her “Frankenstein” co-stars were nominated for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.
