‘Vulnerable’ Rob Kardashian reveals why he stepped away from spotlight in rare interview

Rob Kardashian won’t step in front of cameras if he’s not comfortable — simple as that.
The former reality TV star addressed his stepping away from the spotlight in a rare and “vulnerable” interview with his sister Khloé Kardashian on Wednesday’s episode of her podcast, “Khloé in Wonder Land.”
“It just has everything to do with myself,” he told his sister over the phone when asked why he doesn’t film “The Kardashians” like the rest of his sisters.
“I don’t wanna be filming and putting myself in a position where I’m not comfortable,” he explained. “I’m not comfortable in my skin, so why would I want to go be on camera and just be vulnerable and let people in when that’s not what I want to do?”
Rob, who shares daughter Dream with ex Blac Chyna, further reiterated that he won’t “put [himself] out there if [he’s] not comfortable” in his own skin, which he hasn’t been “for years.”
The 38-year-old added, “Filming and doing all that is not for everybody and I choose my own happiness and peace than filming for somebody that doesn’t do anything for me and my personal life.”
Despite his feelings, Rob explained that he is not “against” making a few cameos on the family’s Hulu show.
“I love filming if it’s positive and natural and I’m feeling good about myself,” he said. “I like being around my family, so that stuff is good to me. I have nothing against [filming], it’s just the reason I don’t is because I’m a homebody and I just choose, like I said, my happiness and peace.”
He also shut down any speculation that he isn’t filming with the family because there is a feud between them, noting, “There’s definitely nothing wrong between any of us.”
After years of appearing on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” Rob took a step back during Season 13 in 2017. He also stopped uploading on social media and was no longer featured on his family’s pages, except during holidays and important events.
Rob’s feelings, however, haven’t stopped his sisters — Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloé, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner — from hoping he will make a comeback.
“I do think Rob would come back to the show,” Khloé said in a confessional during a 2023 episode of “The Kardashians.” “He talks about it a lot, he does, but I do know that Rob has been through a lot personally.”
“He’s literally the best dad I know and I’m so proud of him for that,” she further gushed. “And I know that he is feeling really good about himself and I’m happy for him.”
