Watch your favorite reality TV shows for less with this streaming deal
Is it just us, or does it feel like TV is getting harder to watch?
These days, watching TV can feel more complicated than ever. If you’ve moved away from cable, you’re left navigating a maze of streaming platforms, each with its own mix of channels, making it tricky to determine which service best fits your needs.
Luckily, DIRECTV is making that easier than ever with the introduction of Genre Packs.
Sports fans can get sports channels, avid news-watchers can get news channels, and you, Page Six readers, can subscribe to a pack that just gives you the best of all things entertainment, from Bravo to HBO Max and beyond — all for one low price.
What are DIRECTV Genre Packs?
Genre Packs are new offerings that allow cord-cutters more flexibility than ever from DIRECTV when it comes to subscribing to a live TV streaming service.
Whether you’re a sports fan, a news junkie, or a Bravo-holic, there’s a Genre Pack available for you that’ll give you all of the content you love and less of the content you don’t at a lower price than a larger streaming base plan.
DIRECTV currently offers five Genre Packs: MyKids, MyEntertainment, MiEspañol, MyNews, and MySports. Additional Mini Packs like MyHome Team, MySports Extra, and MyCinema are available to add on to select base Genre Packs as well.
If you find yourself turning your TV on just to tune into the latest and greatest in reality TV, the MyEntertainment Genre Pack is for you.
How much does the DIRECTV MyEntertainment Genre Pack cost?
Right now, if you subscribe to the DIRECTV MyEntertainment Genre Pack, you’ll get your first two months for $29.99/month*, auto-renewing monthly at the then-prevailing rate (currently $34.99/mo.).
MyEntertainment includes Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max in the monthly price and all Genre Packs include a five-day free trial.
Now, let’s compare that to the price of those subscriptions individually. Disney+ and Hulu, with ads, cost $10.99/month individually, while HBO Max Basic with ads is $9.99/month. If you opt to bundle those via a Disney+ bundle, you’d pay $26.99/month.
If you’re going to need live channels in addition to those subscriptions, the genre pack, at $34.99/month, is a no-brainer.
In addition to three streaming app subscriptions and 55+ channels, subscribers also get unlimited cloud DVR storage.
*New customers only. Includes free trial, followed by 2-mo. promo; thereafter, svc auto-renews monthly at then-prevailing rates unless you cancel. Cancel anytime. A valid card is required. Your card may be charged a temporary hold during trial period. Prices may vary through third parties. Restrictions apply. Select sales channels only. See directv.com/genre-packs for full details.
