What Klay Thompson whispered to comfort Megan Thee Stallion at their red carpet debut: lip reader

New power couple Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson were each other’s rocks while making their red carpet debut at Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City Wednesday night.

“There’s an unspoken tenderness between them,” body language expert Nicola Hickling exclusively tells Page Six, while analyzing a video of the pair posing together. “[They] both seem mindful of the press and each other, reading cues, adjusting tone, offering subtle support.”

Stallion — who hosted the fundraiser at Gotham Hall in honor of her late parents Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete III — seemed to ensure that her date was doing well amid all the chaos of the photogs.

“You okay, babe?” the “Savage” rapper, 30, asked Thompson, according to Hickling, who is also a professional lip reader. She claims the NBA star then reassured his lady, “Everything’s alright, babe.”

Hickling claims that the Dallas Mavericks player, 35, further reassured Megan, “It’s alright, baby… I’m comfortable” before sweetly complimenting her, “You look beautiful.”

Per the video Page Six took on the carpet, Thompson’s words seemed to make Megan blush, as she then briefly covered her face with her hands to let out a few sheepish giggles.

“I’m tryna keep my face,” Hickling claims the “WAP” rapper then said, prompting Thompson to smile.

“The phrase ‘you look beautiful’ was genuine, but quiet, as if meant for her alone,” the lip reader adds. “[His] comfort [toward her] was more vocal, but even then, he carefully measured his tone.”

Hickling tells us that in another light-hearted moment, the pro athlete told Megan, “This is my song,” as he danced to a jam playing during the cocktail hour of the gala inside of the glamorous venue.

“His lips curved into a smile during “this is my song,’ revealing an effort to break tension and ground the moment in shared familiarity,” the body language expert further points out.

When a photographer asked, “Sir, can we get a solo of Megan?,” Thompson is heard responding, “Of course,” and seen stepping aside. Hickling claims the Grammy winner asked her beau at that point, “Babe, where you going to?” and he let her know, “Gonna wait on the side.”

Cameras then captured as the couple shared a sweet kiss before briefly parting, prompting “awws” from the reporters and other members of the press at the carpet.

“Their kiss is short and sweet, a small but meaningful display of connection,” Hickling analyzes.

“What we witness isn’t showy, it’s two public figures navigating privacy under bright lights. You get the sense they’re trying to be open, but on their own terms.”

Moments after taking pictures together, Megan gushed exclusively to Page Six about her boyfriend, with whom she just confirmed her romance during a low-key date in New York City earlier this week.

“I have never dated somebody so kind,” she told us. “This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy.”

The “Sweetest Pie” singer continued, “I just never dated somebody like him before and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”

Once inside of the gala, Thompson continued to show his support for Megan by placing the winning bid of $50,000 for an exclusive Super Bowl 2026 experience, courtesy of Roc Nation.

Rapper Fat Joe, who was among the many high-profile guests at the event, also made a generous donation of $26,000 for a private dinner at Melba’s Restaurant in Harlem.

The Pete & Thomas Foundation, whose proceeds go to programs focused on education, housing, health and wellness, raised a total of $1.2 million for its inaugural gala Wednesday night.

Megan also told us on the carpet, “I feel like I’m carrying on a good legacy of my family name. I know [my parents are] looking down on me super proud.”
