When Taylor Swift knew she wanted to marry Travis Kelce — and how she dropped hints
Taylor Swift knew she wanted to marry Travis Kelce six months into their relationship — and she was not discrete about dropping hints.
Speaking out for the first time since Kelce proposed in mid-August, Swift revealed that she had shown the NFL star engagement ring inspo about 18 months prior.
Notably, he and the pop superstar, both 35, began dating in the summer of 2023 before going public with their romance that September at one of his games.
“You wanna see?” Swift said excitedly to “Heart Breakfast” radio show co-hosts Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston Friday morning as she flashed the brilliant-cut old mine diamond ring Kelce gave her.
“He designed it with this amazing jeweler — Kindred Lubeck is her name. She does all of her gold engraving by hand,” the singer-songwriter noted.
She explained that she “thought [Lubeck’s] stuff was so cool,” so she “showed [Kelce] a video” of her work about “a year and a half ago.”
“He was just paying attention to everything, it turns out, because when I saw the ring, I [gasped],” Swift shared. “I was like, ‘I know who made that! I know who made that! I know who made that!’”
In addition to loving the sparkler, which gem experts have estimated could be worth up to $1 million, Swift was also moved by the football player’s retention.
“You listen to me!” she recalled thinking upon seeing the bauble of her dreams.
Swift — who dropped her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” just before stopping by “Heart Breakfast” — announced the record during her first-ever appearance on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, which immediately preceded his proposal.
While the two were talking with his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce, Travis had a team setting up the elaborate backdrop for his romantic proposal in the garden-esque backyard of his Leawood, Kan., estate.
“He really crushed it in surprising me,” Swift gushed on “The Graham Norton Show” Friday morning, according to People.
“While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in.”
The Grammy winner marveled, “He went all out — 10 out of 10.”
The couple waited about two weeks before announcing the happy news.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned a joint Instagram post that featured five of their engagement photos.
