Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman are bringing one of BookTok’s most popular titles to life in “The Love Hypothesis,” a new movie premiering on Prime Video today, Sept. 23.

Reinhart plays Olive Smith, a PhD student who impulsively kisses her department’s most intimidating professor, Adam Carlsen (Tom Bateman), to prove to her best friend that her love life is completely fine and she’s completely over her former crush.

What begins as a desperate act turns into a fake relationship with rules, boundaries, and a mutually beneficial agreement. When their arrangement begins to blur the lines between real and fake, Olive is forced to test her most daunting hypothesis yet: that love might actually be worth the risk.

The rom-com is based on Ali Hazelwood’s 2021 novel of the same name (which infamously began as Star Wars fanfiction).
