Where OnlyFans’ Kit Barrus Stands With Religion and Her Parents Today After Leaving Mormon Church (Exclusive)
OnlyFans star Kit Barrus was raised in a Mormon household, which she ultimately left behind as a teenager. Now, Kit exclusively told Us Weekly that she doesn’t identify as a “religious person.”
“I got a lot out of [my Mormon upbringing] and I experienced a lot of negativity. It’s come out neutral,” she said. “But that’s just my experience. Most people I know have come out quite negative.”
After leaving the church, Kit developed a “small TikTok following” while juggling various jobs. It wasn’t until fans suggested she launch an OnlyFans account that Kit became an adult content creator. “I’m actually a pretty vanilla creator,” she quipped to Us of her NSFW videos.
In her first month with the platform, Kit made $10,000. “It was absolutely crazy,” Kit recalled to Us. “It changed my life. The first thing I did was I was like, ‘I can’t blow this opportunity. There’s something here. I can’t blow this.’ So I bought a camera. I immediately invested in some lights and stuff. … I just went all in.”
As for how her Mormon upbringing fits in with her new career, Kit shared that she still considers herself to be a “spiritual person.”
“I feel like everybody’s spiritual at the end of the day because we all have — hope is such a human emotion, such a human experience. We all hope that we’re more than just the bodies we walk around in,” she explained. “It’s hard because I feel like religion does give you something.”
Kit shared that she has had conversations with other ex-Mormon friends who share her sentiment that those with the religion as their background are “so kind and so generous and so giving.”
“You are just taught this insane value set, and you bring it with you through the rest of your life,” she said. “You bring the trauma with you too. But a lot of the ex Mormons I met are incredible people, just incredibly good people. I would trust them with anything.”
While navigating her life in the adult content creator space, Kit admitted that she didn’t initially tell people in her circle about her OnlyFans venture.
“I actually kept it really, really secret,” she said of when she launched the account. “I had a lot of really bad reactions at the time and it’s influenced, for sure, how I interact with people now. I still don’t really tell people straight out. You have to get to know me a little bit.”
Included in those who have been left in the dark are her parents.
“I don’t know if they’ll ever know. I feel like we’re in a really good place, though, where if they found out, I think my dad would just ignore it. I think he would pretend he still didn’t know, and I think that’s probably the best thing for our relationship,” she said, noting that the father-daughter duo see each other a couple times per week. “I think he’s at a place now where he would just be like, ‘I didn’t see it. I don’t know anything about it. I’m just gonna go hang out with my daughter and be happy.’”
