Miley Cyrus has Something Beautiful with her fiancé, Maxx Morando.

The “Flowers” singer and the drummer were first romantically linked in December 2021, when they were photographed getting close backstage during the singer’s NBC special, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party. A month prior, Cyrus shared photos on Instagram after attending the Gucci “Love Parade” fashion show in Los Angeles with Morando — though it was unclear if they were a couple or just friends at the time.

The pair eventually went public with their romance, with Cyrus later confirming they met on a blind date. After four years of dating, a source confirmed to PEOPLE on Dec. 2 that the pair are engaged, one day after Cyrus was spotted wearing a diamond ring on a red carpet in L.A.

During a conversation with The Cut in September 2025, Cyrus opened up about learning lessons from past relationships, explaining how her mom always wanted her to “stay with the wrong guy ’cause they’re hot,” but she had ended up with someone who treats her “with respect.”

“I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me,” the Hannah Montana alum said. “I had to find someone who treats me with respect […] My man’s hot as hell too. But my man also respects me.”

He plays multiple instruments

Morando is best known for playing drums, but he can also play guitar, which he showed during an Instagram Live video from 2020.

He is currently the drummer for a band called Liily. Before that, Morando was the drummer for the Regrettes from 2015 to 2018.

He’s a fashion designer

During a September 2021 interview with Vogue, Cyrus revealed that Morando helped create one of her festival looks alongside designer Shane Kastl.

“This look is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two of my favorite emerging artists, Maxx Morando and Shane Kastl,” she told the publication about one of her outfits. “Their collaboration is the perfect example of sustainability becoming the next fashion phase, and it proves that anything can be reinvented, which resonates with me deeply.”

He’s been linked to Cyrus since 2021

Though the couple first sparked dating rumors in December 2021, they first stepped out together at the Gucci “Love Parade” fashion show in L.A. in November 2021. That December, the two were seen getting close at Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party special in Miami.

In April 2022, the two seemingly went public with their romance as they were photographed sharing a passionate kiss out in West Hollywood.

They were later seen together at the Versace show in L.A. in March 2023, posing for photos and walking the red carpet hand-in-hand.

They met on a blind date

In a June 2023 interview with British Vogue, the Grammy winner detailed the story of how she met Morando.

“We got put on a blind date,” Cyrus said. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him,” she clarified to the outlet. “I thought, ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.’ ”

Morando and Cyrus have collaborated professionally

Morando worked on two tracks — “Handstand” and “Violet Chemistry” — from Cyrus’ album, Endless Summer Vacation, and he shared a celebratory post about the project on Instagram.

Her lead single from the album, “Flowers,” won two Grammy awards in February 2024, and Morando was on hand to celebrate with her at the event. Though Morando and Cyrus didn’t walk the red carpet together, the couple was photographed kissing at their table during the ceremony.

More recently, Morando produced several songs and wrote the title track of Cyrus’ ninth album, Something Beautiful.

Cyrus gave him a special shout-out at the 2024 Grammys

Cyrus gave her boyfriend a sweet shout-out as she took home record of the year for “Flowers.” In addition to thanking her team, Cyrus paid tribute to her mom and sister sitting in the audience, as well as Morando, whom she referred to as “my love.”

During the show, the couple were photographed sharing a kiss as they sat together during the ceremony with Cyrus’ family.

A source said Cyrus is “very happy with him”

In February 2024, a source told PEOPLE that Cyrus and Morando are living together and shared some insight about their relationship.

“She is very happy with him,” the insider added. “Miley has changed a lot in the past couple of years. She seems more calm and harmonious. Everyone loves Maxx. He’s a great guy. He’s private and doesn’t like being in the press. It’s been good for her.”

That same month, Cyrus’ mom, Tish Cyrus, gave her stamp of approval while speaking with PEOPLE.

“He’s cute,” she said, adding that she’s never seen her daughter happier. “I think it shows just by looking at Miley, her face and her smile at the Grammys and just everything about her that she’s in an amazing place.”

They are engaged

On Dec. 2, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that Cyrus and Morando are engaged, one day after the “Flowers” singer stepped out to the Avatar: Fire and Ash world premiere in L.A. sporting a diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger.

Though some outlets report that Cyrus has been spotted wearing the ring since November, the couple have not revealed when they got engaged.
