Why King Charles has stopped taking Prince Harry’s calls — even those about his health: ‘Complete silence’

King Charles III has stopped answering his son Prince Harry’s phone calls — to the point of “complete silence” between the two, according to a new report.
Since the Duke of Sussex rushed to the UK to meet with his father after the monarch revealed his cancer diagnosis in February, their communication has worsened due to Harry’s desperation for security detail for his family, a source told People Wednesday.
“He gets ‘unavailable right now,’” a friend of Harry’s told the magazine. “His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the king’s health, but those calls go unanswered, too.”
The Invictus Games founder — who has been concerned for the safety of his wife, Meghan Markle, and their minor kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — has reportedly asked Charles, 75, for help regarding reinstating their security detail.
“Harry is frightened and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his father,” a royal insider told People, while another source close to the situation said, “Harry is determined to protect his own family at all costs.”
A palace source, however, claimed the idea that the duke’s security lies solely in Charles’ hands is “wholly incorrect.”
The estrangement between Harry, 39, and the royal family began when he and the Duchess of Sussex, 42, quit their royal duties in 2020 and moved to North America.
Due to their decision to leave, the couple was stripped of their security detail.
In 2022, it was revealed that Harry said he did “not feel safe” traveling in the UK without the help of security after he petitioned the UK government to provide additional protections when he and his family traveled to his homeland.
The Pat Tillman Award for Service recipient‘s attorneys claimed he and his family needed more protection because they had “been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats.”
Two years later, Harry still shares those same sentiments, as he revealed earlier this month that it was “still dangerous” to take Markle back to the UK.
“All it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff, to act on what they have read,” he explained in ITV’s documentary “Tabloids on Trial.”
“And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”
However, in February, London’s High Court ruled that Harry and his immediate family would not be able to use tax-funded police protection when they visit across the pond.
