Why Kordell Beckham Isn’t Featured as a Main Cast Member on the Love Island USA Spinoff Series
The fan-favorite stars from Love Island USA season 6 are returning to the screen for an all-new spinoff series this summer, but one of the season’s most familiar faces was not named among the cast.
Kordell Beckham, who won the season with girlfriend Serena Page, was not included in the cast list announced by Peacock on Thursday, April 17, prompting confusion — and concern — from fans. Among those announced as the cast were his girlfriend Serena, Leah Kateb, Miguel Harichi, Kenny Rodriguez, Olivia Walker, Kaylor Martin, Kendall Washington, Aaron Evans and Connor Newsum.
Peacock said that other Islanders will also pop up in the spinoff, titled Love Island: Beyond the Villa, and PEOPLE can confirm that Kordell will be appearing in the series, just not as part of the main cast.
Per the streamer, Beyond the Villa will follow “everyone’s favorite Season 6 Islanders around Los Angeles as they navigate new careers, evolving friendships, newfound fame and complex relationships outside of the Love Island villa.”
Though he won’t be as present in the spinoff, Kordell has another equally exciting opportunity ahead of him: the 22-year-old has been cast in a new scripted series that will conflict with the filming of Beyond the Villa, PEOPLE has learned.
He will still be on hand supporting his girlfriend and his fellow Islanders, though, just not as regularly, as his rep notes that he and Serena are “definitely still going strong.”
Kordell and Serena made things official just weeks after leaving the Fiji villa as the season’s winners, and in October, Serena told PEOPLE that they were “progressing” in their relationship but making an effort to move at the pace that a “normal relationship would and not as fast as it does in the villa.”
“We’re able to just come out and slow things down a bit,” she said.
When it comes to what’s ahead of them, Serena was clear that the “next step would be an engagement,” but they “need some time” before that happens.
Moving in together would come after the engagement, she added. “My finger’s still empty,” she said. “My finger’s empty and so is my apartment. I can live with you when we’re engaged.”
