Why photo agency flagged Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis video with editor’s note

A photo agency has added a warning to the footage of Kate Middleton disclosing her cancer diagnosis.
“This Handout clip was provided by a third-party organization,” a message from Getty Images read, “and may not adhere to Getty Images’ editorial policy.”
The agency explained to E! News that it added the editor’s note because it is “standard” for any photo or footage provided by outside organizations — in this case, Kensington Palace.
The note comes after several major agencies ruled that the palace was not a “trusted source” after it released a heavily edited photo of Middleton and her kids on UK Mother’s Day.
The Princess of Wales, 42, released the emotional video of the Princess of Wales on March 22 after months of speculation about her health and whereabouts. In the clip, she revealed she had been undergoing preventative chemotherapy and would need time to rest and recover.
“She wrote every word herself,” an insider told People of the speech filmed by the BBC from the gardens at Windsor Castle.
A separate source added that she “delivered it personally and wanted to decide when the time was right to hit the world with this news.”
Middleton said that her husband, Prince William, has been a huge support throughout her recuperation and that they had waited to share the news until their children fully understood her condition.
But a new report from the Daily Mail on Monday claimed Kensington Palace rushed to release Middleton’s video because her diagnosis had been leaked.
The outlet’s insider did not clarify whether the leak came from the London Clinic — where the princess underwent abdominal surgery in January — or elsewhere; however, sources told Page Six that rumors about a leak are untrue.
Middleton and William, 41, as well as their three kids, all skipped Easter services with the rest of the royal family over the weekend in favor of spending time at their vacation home, Sandringham Estate.
King Charles III, however, put on a brave face at church despite facing his own cancer battle.
