3 Underrated Amazon Prime Video Movies You Need to Watch in October 2025: ‘Catfight’ and More

October’s not all about horror movies and Gilmore Girls.
If you’re scrolling Amazon Prime Video for something a little more unexpected, the Watch With Us team is recommending three underrated movies on the platform that might pique your interest.
From historical biopics to dark comedies, these titles are a little out of left field — just the way you like them.
Check out our picks, which feature standout performances from Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, Sandra Oh and Alicia Silverstone, for something different to watch this October.
Let’s get this out of the way — no one could ever be as funny or charming as Lucille Ball or Desi Arnaz, and Being the Ricardos, a biopic about the making of I Love Lucy, inevitably suffers from the comparison. But Nicole Kidman delivers an incredible portrayal of the iconic comedienne, while Javier Bardem captures the charisma and complexity of her husband, the singer and producer who helped shape her career.
While Aaron Sorkin’s script isn’t as sharp as some of his previous work, the film’s depiction of how Lucy and Desi changed television forever — by insisting that Lucy’s real-life pregnancy be written into I Love Lucy — is simply fascinating. It’s a stylish, well-acted look at fame, marriage and creative partnership that deserves a second watch.
Jane Austen was an expert on love — at least on the page. Miss Austen Regrets, a surprisingly high-quality made-for-TV film, examines why she never seemed to find it herself. Olivia Williams stars as the brilliant writer, whose literary achievements are constantly scrutinized alongside her unmarried status — even by her sister Cassandra (Greta Scacchi) and niece Fanny (Imogen Poots).
As Fanny pursues her own match, considering the debonair Mr. Plumptre (Tom Hiddleston), she can’t help but be influenced by her “maiden aunt’s” lofty ideals about love and marriage. Miss Austen Regrets becomes a thoughtful exploration of how ambition, emotion and economics collide — raising questions that feel as relevant today as they did in Austen’s time.
Sandra Oh and Anne Heche star in this dark comedy about two former college classmates whose fortunes violently flip after a chance reunion. When Veronica (Oh) and Ashley (Heche) run into each other at a party, old tensions bubble up into an all-out brawl — setting off a years-long rivalry that ruins one woman’s life while propelling the other’s to new heights.
The supporting cast, including Tituss Burgess, Alicia Silverstone and Amy Hill, adds depth and humor to this absurdly entertaining satire. Reminiscent of Beef or Duplex, Catfight is a biting, bizarre and surprisingly emotional commentary on envy and the self-destructive power of resentment. It’s a story about how insecurity can destroy you — especially when you’re trying to destroy someone else.
