3 Underrated HBO Max Movies You Should Watch in March 2026: ‘Men’ and More
Unlike some of the other streamers, the bulk of HBO Max‘s new movies in March tend to be older titles.
Thankfully, there are some interesting and quirky films to choose from, especially if you happened to miss them in theaters.
The Watch With Us team has selected the following three underrated HBO Max movies you should watch in March 2026.
Our choices include an unconventional horror film, a very dark comedy and an adaptation of one of the most influential novels ever made.
‘Men’ (2022)
Irish actress Jessie Buckley didn’t come out of nowhere before her Oscar-winning role in Hamnet. She also starred in A24’s folk horror movie, Men. Buckley plays Harper Marlowe, a newly widowed woman who still isn’t over the death of her husband, James (Paapa Essiedu). To get her mind off her guilt, Harper takes a holiday in a small village called Cotson.
Harper didn’t think anything of it when she met Geoffrey (Rory Kinnear), the eccentric owner of her rental house. But it’s impossible not to notice that all of the men in the village look like Geoffrey — and that includes the enigmatic naked man who is stalking Harper. That’s more than enough to make anyone doubt their sanity, but Harper’s torment is just beginning. And she can’t run from it forever.
Men is streaming on HBO Max.
‘Little Miss Sunshine’ (2006)
Abigail Breslin had one of her first major roles as a young girl named Olive in Little Miss Sunshine. In this dark comedy, Olive, her brother, Dwayne (Paul Dano), and their parents, Richard (Greg Kinnear) and Sheryl (Toni Collette), are struggling financially while also taking care of Sheryl’s suicidal brother, Frank (Steve Carell), and Richard’s drug-addicted father, Edwin (Alan Arkin).
When Olive is granted a spot in the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant in California, the entire family packs into a Volkswagen van that’s just as broken as they are. The family’s experience offers some revelations about each other that they didn’t expect, in addition to some tragic choices. But it’s ultimately a bonding experience as they try to support Olive’s dream while chasing their own.
Little Miss Sunshine is streaming on HBO Max.
‘Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’ (1994)
Unlike Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Francis Ford Coppola only produced Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. It fell to Kenneth Branagh to direct the movie and star in it as Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist obsessed with creating life from death. No one can dissuade Frankenstein from his goal, which culminates in his creation of a creature (Robert De Niro), who was made from the mind of his mentor and the body of a killer.
The creature soon discovers that he is an outcast in this world and no one will embrace him as one of their own. His jealousy of Victor is so great that he threatens the life of Frankenstein’s wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), if his maker refuses his request to create a bride as well. And unlike some other versions of the story, this creature doesn’t make threats that he won’t go through with.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is streaming on HBO Max.
