Editors, publishing bigs sing karaoke at launch of Juliet Izon’s debut novel, ‘The Encore’
Acclaimed travel and food writer Juliet Izon celebrated the publication of her debut novel “The Encore” with an appropriately musical party, Page Six hears.
In an ode to the book’s main characters, who are musicians, pianist John Khoury tickled the ivories at the Silver Lining Lounge while a who’s who of journalists and publishing types showed why the written word is their professional form of expression by performing karaoke.
We’re told with Commercial Observer’s brave editor in chief Max Gross the first to take the stage, while other journos on the scene included the Atlantic’s Serena Dai, Glamour’s Chantal Waldholz, Good Housekeeping’s Brie Schwartz, Elle’s Adrienne Gaffney, Vanity Fair’s Cate Sturgess, Architectural Digest’s Rachel Wallace, as well as Jordi Lippe-McGraw, Devorah Lev-Tov, Laura Lane, Andrew Nodell, Micaela English, Caroline Hatchett, and Kayleigh Ruller.
Also seen in the crowd were political influencer Eliza Orlins, Ballet Collective’s Troy Schumacher and wife NYCB soloist Ashley Laracey, powerhouse literary agent Alison Fargis, publicist Jeffrey Yamaguchi, and bestselling romcom author Ali Rosen.
The evening ended with a surprise performance from a trio of the members of rock band San Fermin —Ellis Ludwig-Leone, Allen Tate, and Claire Wellin — who hopped on stage for a rollicking cover of Radiohead’s Creep that had everyone on their feet.
The book from Union Square and Co. is on sale now.
