Nicolas Cage’s ex dismisses actor from lawsuit claiming he enabled their son Weston’s alleged assault
Nicolas Cage’s ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton dismissed the actor from her lawsuit against him and their son, Weston Coppola Cage.
According to court documents obtained by People Monday, Fulton’s attorney requested that the “National Treasure” star be dismissed from the lawsuit, which claimed that Nicolas enabled Weston ahead of the latter’s alleged mental health crisis in April 2024.
The breakdown allegedly led to Weston physical attacking his mother at her Los Angeles home.
Fulton’s claims against Nicolas, 61, were dismissed with prejudice, meaning she can no longer pursue the matter against him. However, she is still pursuing her claims against Weston, 34.
Reps for Nicolas were not immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Last month, Fulton, 57, filed a lawsuit against the “Ghost Rider” actor for negligence, alleging he “failed to take action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harming others.”
“Weston has a long history of mental and psychological disorder and a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals,” her filing claimed.
Per the court documents, Fulton claimed Nicolas enabled their son’s allegedly “reckless” lifestyle and failed to get him “psychiatric” help.
She further alleged that the Oscar winner consumes alcohol with Weston “despite knowing his substance abuse history” and has bailed him out of jail more than once.
“Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability,” Fulton’s lawsuit claimed.
However, an attorney for the actor called Fulton’s allegations “absurd and frivolous” in a statement shared with Page Six.
“Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man,” the statement read. “Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”
Last week, Fulton told TMZ that she was “heartbroken” to be suing Weston but felt like she had no other option.
“I have done this alone, been left alone … and I hold a lot of people responsible, especially the LAPD,” she said.
In April 2024, Weston was reportedly named as a suspect in a battery report regarding the alleged incident that took place at Fulton’s home. She was seen with a black eye days later.
He was arrested for the incident in July 2024.
Later that month, Weston pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and claimed to TMZ that his mother was the one who “needs help.”
