Brooke Shields’ podcast interview criticizing ‘too precious’ Meghan Markle taken down

Brooke Shields’ recent podcast interview in which she criticized Meghan Markle’s “too precious” behavior at their SXSW panel has been taken down.
The link to Shields’ interview on India Hicks’ “An Unexpected Journey” podcast that premiered earlier this month now takes prospective listeners to a “page not found” message on the hosts’ substack site.
The actress, who recently made an appearance at the 2025 Tony Awards, has not yet publicly commented on the situation nor her comments regarding the Duchess of Sussex.
Reps for Shields, Hicks and Markle did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
On the now-deleted episode, the “Mother of the Bride” star recalled that Markle awkwardly kicked off the panel with a “serious” story, telling the crowd of how she pushed for gender equality at the ripe age of 11.
“Katie asks the first question to Meghan and she talks about how at a young age, she was already advocating for women,” Shields told Hicks, 57, who is King Charles’ goddaughter.
“She starts telling a story about how when she was 11 — and she keeps saying, ‘Well, when I was 11, I saw this commercial and they were talking about how washing dishes was for women’ And she said, ‘I didn’t think only women wash dishes. It wasn’t fair, so I wrote to the company.’”
“She kept saying she was 11!” Shields emphasized.
The “Suits” alum, 43, has candidly shared the story before, and as she explained it, a pre-teen Markle then allegedly asked the company (Proctor & Gamble) to change the text in their commercial.
The original ad for Ivory hand soap featured the slogan, “Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.” The company obliged Markle’s request and changed the message to “People all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.”
“It was just too precious, and I was like, ‘They’re not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious,’” Shields, 60, recalled on Hicks’ podcast.
She continued, “I go, ‘Excuse me, I’m so sorry, I’ve got to interrupt you there for one minute.’ I was trying not to be rude, but I wanted to be funny because it was so serious.”
“I just want to give everybody here a context as to how we’re different. When I was 11, I was playing a prostitute,” she joked, referring to her 1978 film, “Pretty Baby.”
“The place went insane,” Shields noted, adding that the audience appeared “more relaxed” after her interjection.
